Description:

A decent brush pot was carved from one block of box wood.
By natural root wood form, the wood box was stylized and beautiful when nice and warm patina was obtained on the surface.
It was in good size and was preserved perfectly.
Some protection layers had been done to the bottom by ex-collecter.

It was quite hefty in weight.

Date: Qing Dynasty, 19th century.

A Chinese man would have worn this egg shaped wooden tobacco container hanging from his belt. Both front and back are decorated with metal studs and fitting attached with copper nails. The lid is hinged and held in place by a decorative pin which is pulled up to open.

A bronze dragon water spout dating from the late Edo or early Meiji period (mid to later 19th century) in an unusual full body configuration. Most spouts appear climbing over the edge of a basin, and thus only the front of the dragon need be cast. This however writhes across the edge of the basin, the entire body exposed. Massive Chinese late Qing to Republic period hardwood scroll pot of naturally irregular tree trunk form carved from a single piece of wood with five nearly hidden bats along the sides. A rare set of five tiny Gosu cups for drinking Gyokuro steaped tea from the Shidehara kiln of Sanda in Hyogo prefecture dating from mid to later 19th century (Late Edo to Meiji). Fish circle the cups as they swim among water plants. Each cup is 2 inches (5 cm) diameter and in great condition.
