A spectacular black lacquered wooden sign carved with bold characters over a gold gilded carp swimming through a torrent of waves dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. A black-glazed Jianyang tea cup was in rarely-seen silver-spots effects in the glaze.
The tea bowl was in oval shape with inverted mouth rim.
It was applied on the surface with dark brown, appearing black glaze on the surface.
The dense slip stopped evenly above the foot ring.
Slightly iridescent and brownish, the silver streaks embellished the glaze with metal-sheen-feel reflection.
It was a characteristic skill in that periods for Jianyang wares...

These are worn with kimono and obi under Uchikake gown for the traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. There is a small area on the tissue holder and tanto bag with some power like stains. It is in new condition other than that. Great accent pieces for your home; two obi-jime (fat strings) can be used to tie the curtains, or use them with obis to create a wall décor. It was in evert form.
Greasy feel condition was yielded on the surface when dark-tinted body clay was revealed at the bottom.
The bowl was preserved in perfect condition.
It was very rare to find a Jianyang tea bowl in green glaze which was caused most likely by transformation of firing temperature.
