A very rare celadon flattened jar has a large wide mouth and handles resting on animal claws attached in two places in the shoulder. The white inlay around the mouth is in Classic scroll design and the body is decorated with Camellia sprays. Manchu women never practiced foot-binding. However, during the Qing dynasty, they did wear pedestal aka platform shoes, hoping to give the appearance of smaller feet. The tips of the shoes would appear to peak out from under the robes, giving the foot more dainty appearance.

Measuring 3" x 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" high, this silver box is nicely stamped with traditional navajo designs. It sits on four feet, which appear to be bead halves, and has a clasp on front that secures the lid. Unmarked, which is typical of older works, likely from the trading post era, with Fred Harvey being one of the primary venues for the sale of hand made Navajo silver and other works. This antique gau would have been worn around the neck of a Tibetan woman during festivals.
The gau front and side surfaces are decorated with ornate wire work and the front has small beads of turquoise, coral and Lapis. Originally, the gau box would have contained Buddhist religious relics which were removed long ago... and there is some obvious lose to the enamal work on the inside of the gau. The back fits tightly but can easily be removed. It has the sign of the double dorjie...

Miao womans Zhaotong style robe from Guizhou province, Wumeng mountain region. The traditional arrow pattern of this garment was considered as a protection from the arrows of enemies. Combining cotton and wool homespun, these garments were used literally as blankets to protect from the cold while tending cattle. Not many survived and the condition reflects the use.

This antique Chines fifth rank summer court official hat has its original fringe, crystal finial and chin strap. The hat has its original storage box, which shows both its age and use. There is a tear on one side of the rim (pictured) and the rear hinge works but is also in poor condition.

Measuring 5 1/2" square and 8 1/2" high to top of handle, this Tabako Bon, or tobacco box, is lacquer over wood, with brass fittings, round lidded container, and hibachi. The one large drawer contains the lidded brass container and an open compartment behind it, and the other two drawers fit the depth of the case. The hibachi on top may be removed, and locks in when turned, so that the entire piece may be carried by the handle...

A small Buddhist statue with serene expression, wearing Bodhisattva garments. Seated in dhyanasana, holding the hands in dhyanamudra. An unusual Japanese blue and white porcelain koro, presumably Hizen production. Clearly Japanese with Mon alternating with flowering karakusa on the rim, and the body decorated with almost Nabeshima like cloud and tooth borders enclosing a broad tako-karakusa background featuring peony blossoms on cylindrical form with inverted, broad rim. Five spur marks appear on the glazed foot with no rim. Very good condition. About 3 1/16 inches (7.78 cm) diameter. About 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) high.
