This 34 x 44 millimeter oval shell cameo is remarkable for several reasons, beginning with the frame. Made of 14 karat gold, it is done in intricate filigree with breathtaking hand-worked ornamentation and flourishes. The carved image seems more Elizabethan lady than ancient diety with her high collar and perfectly detailed hairstyle. The necklace she wears contains one old mine diamond. This unique cameo originates in the 1910’s and may be worn as a pin or pendant

An extraordinary amethyst and silver bracelet by Fred Davis, c 193. The weight and mass of the large rectangular amethyst stones is complimented by the open design of the silver links. I believe this bracelet to be quite rare. It measures 7 3/4" end to end and is 1 1/4" wide. It weighs 88 grams. It is in fine original condition with only a tiny line and ding to the edge of one of the silver rounds. It in no way detracts from the piece. I mention it only for total accuracy. A Longquan water dropper was in lovely melon shape.
By cute little spout, the small ewer was mold with a handle which intended to imitate the twisted vines.

It can be easily ...

A bronze Tanuki dressed in robes and holding a Nyoi (priest scepter) sits yelping into the air, as if surprised at being discovered for his true nature. Dating from the Meiji or possibly Taisho period, it is 10 x 8 x 9-1/2 inches (25 x 21 x 23 cm) and on the base has written in red “4th year” followed by a series of letters to which I have yet to discern a meaning. Likely Meiji 4 (1871).

Protected in a 12 ¾ x 22 ½ inch, gold and green painted wood frame, this authentic GOLD DUST Trolley Sign was manufactured by the N.K. Fairbanks Company in 1921!
GOLD DUST Trolley Signs are a very rare find in today’s market as they were made of cardboard, a material much less likely to withstand the test of time as opposed to tin advertising signs which were much sturdier!

Not very frequently coming up this is a fun Antonio Pineda ring, which I would date in the 1960s! I have never come upon this design before but I think it is related to the gorgeous silver and pearls "Knot" necklace pictured on p. 190 of "Silver Seduction", the catalogue to Pineda's big retrospective exhibition at UCLA's Fowler Museum in 2008/09.
I find the complicated, thick wire knots on the face very intriguing and definitely different.
