Beautifully and artfully sculpted, this shaman, or sukia, sits with arms crossed on knees, smoking, in the traditional pose of these precolumbian figures from the region that now encompasses Costa Rica. Dating to the period 800-1400AD, it is in very good condition, with some loss to the toes on the right foot, and has some patinization from being handled, in addition to mineral encrustation. The lava stone is reddish gray, and the surface is mottled, as is the case with such stone...

A gorgeous lotus pectoral is the epitome style within the fine Mexican silver from the Spratling era. This one is marked only with the eagle 3 but the ornate chain is telling because from my experience only Vilasanna made this link on the Lotus. It is heavy repousse at 102 grams and has an approximate 17.5in. wearable. The drop is 4 inches tall and 5 in. across. This piece has a very dark patina and will be left to the new owner to make as she wishes...

One decent painted jar was well molded in a grand look. By the straw glazed slip on the surface, the well maneuvered sketching motifs- the vibrant peony flowers and spread leaves were vividly rendered in a regular form around the straight wall.
From the freehand but strictly applied brushwork on the surface and the beige body clay revealed at the foot ring, the beautiful ware was authenticated as a piece from Cizhou kilns for sure -but a restricted one...

One of William Spratling most beautiful bracelets, this is a heavy silver cuff with silver cabachons surrounded by rope bezels. It measures 5 5/8" around in the inside and has a 1 1/4" opening. It is 1 7/8" wide and weighs 192 grams. Hallmarks from the Spratling First Design Period 1931-1946 as shown. Fine original condition. Museum quality Spratling.

Smashing, LARGE mixed metals belt buckle in the form of a fish by Antonio Pineda. Although several of the Taxco silversmiths worked with mixed metals, I have never seen a piece before in mixed metals by Antonio so I would think this belt buckle to be quite rare. Far Fan made quality chain mail jewelry and this bracelet is a superb example of just that. These stones are all original to the bracelet, all have warmed the same tone of teal and all have no chips or cracks. The length is 7in. long and the width is a wide 2 inches. This bracelet has a large presence and the thickness of the chain is also important weighing in at 107 grams heavy. A great example for any collector in love with early Spratling era silver.
