Stunning, elegant and rare this sterling silver & turquoise necklace was designed & signed circa 1950's by Taxco, Mexico modernist artist Antonio Pineda (1919-2009). This seated figure, a Lohan or Scholar, is very nicely modeled, with good detail and form. It measures 3 3/8" high x 2 5/8" wide and is covered in a soft turquoise colored glaze, which is translucent, and varied in intensity of color, being deeper colored where the glaze has pooled. there are very tiny dark spots apparent in the glaze, some more visible on back and shoulders...
