A lacquered and iron bound round lidded box called a kubi-oke made to carry the head of a man taken in battle or that of a man after committing ritual suicide for offering to the lord. It is 13 inches (33 cm) diameter, 11-1/2 inches (29 cm) tall with large handles from which it could be carried on a pole. There is mouse damage on one part of the bottom, but has not eaten through to the inside.

These earring are marked with one of Matilde Poulats oldest hallmarks. Trying to find these now is getting more difficult all the time. They are 1.5in. long and 1in. wide. They have been converted to post but the hallmark was not disturbed.
This pair of Matl earrings are of the double birds design which is quite scarce. They are unmarked and came from a hallmarked, matching Matl necklace and bracelet parure in my collection. Many parure earrings are not hallmarked. However, they are unmarked and the price reflects such. They are 1.25 in. wide and 2 in. long. The carving on the tops is exceptional. Of solid cast bronze, and weighing 10 pounds, this simply detailed Buddha measures 12 3/4" from feet to top of ushnisha, and 13 1/2" including wood base. This Buddha is classicaly Sri Lankan, from the elegant and thin form to the flame or Sirispata Ushnisha on the head. Nicely detailed, with a deep brown patina, the figure is in excellent condition, with a minor loss to the central flame tip, visible in photos. Very striking in size and style, it appears to date to the early 20th century.
