A rather rare, very romantic Margot de Taxco creation from her "roses" period this charm bracelet has nine beautifully cast figural dangles, each one in the form of a chubby little cherub, many playing musical instruments. I guess this is an example of Margot's Renaissance Revival creations, as it brings to mind Italian jewelry made by the Peruzzi and the Coppini families - in any case, definitely an Old World inspired design. A mystery maker for me - though listed by Bille Hougart in his book on Mexican silver hallmarks (see p. 249) - it is Taller Taxco that signs this modernist pendant necklace, obviously based on a rather rare to find Salvador Teran design. Large and imposing, masterfully crafted, the pendant is shaped like a squatting pre-Colombian figure with his hands closed around a big, tumbled blue stone with green undertones and some matrix showing on the side (maybe blue chrysoprase?). Based on the fact that Casa Maya reproduced several of Hubert Harmon's design in copper and brass, Sandy Hargrove in her book on the taller's work suggested that the company must have had the designer's permission to do so.
