Rare and magnificent Hector Aguilar 990 silver and obsidian bracelet. This same bracelet, but with malachite stones, is featured on page 24 of the book SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Morrill. They date is c. 1940. The round black cabachon stones appear at first glance to be onyx, however in certain light, the greenish, brownish irridescence of the stones can be seen ( see photo #5)and it is clear that they are indeed obsidian. An exquisitely formed sometsuke porcelain by important Seto porcelain artist Kawamoto Rekitei (1894-1975) with raised patterns of grapes forming on the vine. The delicate shades of the steadily browning grape leaves is easily conveyed by the masters touch, each leaf carefully bordered in a raised border, the dark grapes slowly growing plump in the shadows. The vase is 9 inches (23 cm) tall, over 7 inches (18 cm) diameter...

A very rare and early moonstone and silver bracelet by Antonio Pineda. It measures 6 1/2" around in the inside and is 3/4" wide. The stones are clear and have a blue tint and are beautiful. All original, fine condition,intact safety chain. One of the moonstones houses the clasp so looks continuous on the wrist. Signed with an early mark - Silver by Tono and the eagle. From the earlier part of Matilde Poulat's magically creative career this set of silver and red coral earrings is characterized by her textured wirework, beading and bezel-set stones. Almost understated when compared to Matl's usually bold designs, it reminds me of inverted question marks. Measuring approximately 5 3/8 inches in length, 4 3/4 inches in width, and 2 3/8" in depth, this wonderful, ceramic, Wide-Smiling Mammy Wall Pocket was made in Japan, circa 1940-50's.

Coloring is quite brilliant, and the condition is very fine with appropriate age-related crazing and some tiny, circular, firing imperfections on Mammy's polka dotted scarf as noted in photos. Please note that white marks are flash reflections, not imperfections...

Fred Davis properly hallmarked cylinder bracelet is 7.5in. long and weighs 73 grams heavy. It has a rich and stately presence being 1.5in. tall. Measuring 20 inches in length by 4 inches high, this rare, Jim Crow-era, segregationist sign once hung in the one and only movie theatre of Doerun, Georgia, a small south Georgia town. Folks would view movies on a white sheet that was tacked to one wall. The white folk sat in folding chairs on the first floor while the African-Americans were directed to seating via this sign in the upstairs balcony.

At first glance this appears to simply be a large image of a burning tree, however, look again and find the tree like figure is in the from of two entwined lovers, flames leaping from their impassioned bodies. This was likely made as an exhibition work, as it certainly would be difficult to fit into even a large Japanese home.
