These old bronze lanterns are used in Japanese temples. They are often called "Toro" (pronounced toh-ro). One side of the lock (shown in the photo) did not open (I did not force it open). 17 inches tall from the Meiji period (1868-1912).

A beautiful Chinese porcelain vase exquisite hand painted details with scenes of court life and floral and geometric designs. In fine condition no chips or crack or damage.

Red silk ground fabric decorated with silver and gold paper wrapped thread, using the songket supplementary weft technique. The center field with stylized flower heads, ending in rows of triangles. Woven in two parts and sewn together lengthways. Condition: clean, wear to the metallic twine, only partially preserved. Holes, repaired splits and holes, wear, deterioration of the rims. A dark blue satin woman's garment, dating to the late Qing dynasty, with center opening fastened with a gilt metal ball button and two ribbons. The four lobed collar, terminating in ruyi heads, and all wide hems extravagantly embroidered with romance figures in Peking stitch and little gold thread couching. Trimmed with different woven borders, the straight sleeves with embroidered outer cuff bands. Later figured blue silk lining. Condition: very good, only partial little staining...

Six different antique ceremonial spoons used during Hindu worship for offering holy water to deities, from Maharashtra. Made of brass or bronze, the largest spoon in "ganga-jumna" technique (brass and copper). Three with cobra, two with lotus bud and one with dancing Krishna final. One with short inscription. Gold seal of approval! An American Victorian 10Kt gold and carnelian watch fob/seal. The carnelian seal measures 1” X 15/16”and is set in a frame on the bottom. The openwork scrolls constitute the sides and handle of the fob, which is very stylishly topped by a line design decorated tubular bail.

A beautifully decorated Qing dynasty famille rose plate with 5 different brightly coloured butterflies alternating with bamboo leave, melon plant, chrysanthemum flower, morning glory flower and cherry flower. The base of the plate bears the six-character reign mark of Guangxu (1875-1908) and of the late Qing Dynasty period.

There is a minor firing fault at the top right hand corner where the reign mark is...

Antique Tibetan Snuff or Scent Bottle Copper silver with Turquoise Coral. Measuring approx. 2"L x 1.5"W.

This hand made beater board was used with an old backstrap loop by one of the hill tribes of northern Thailand. Now, as a folk art tool from another culture, it is an authentic ethnographic artifact and is also an interesting piece of sculpture.

The beater board is 4 inches wide and 27+ inches long, and has lost a few "teeth" with age.

Identical to Milton Bradley's "Jolly Darkie Target Game" manufactured circa 1910, this visually striking dexterity game is very curiously unmarked---quite likely a very rare error in manufacture.

This fabulous game features a brightly colored lithograph target depicting the dapper, banjo-playing, "Jolly Darkie" with a gigantic mouth.

The target box remains in very fine condition, appearing to have seen little, if any, use...

Antique Japanese furoshiki wrapping cloth, dyed in aizome (indigo dye) with a paste-resist family crest. This type of fabric now belongs to the Mingei, folk art of Japan, and has been popular by many collectors. The fabric is thick but a soft cotton, all hand-sewn in excellent condition (3 to 4 tiny holes shown in last enlargement). The other white spots are from the cotton stuffing. Dimensions are 46" x 53 1/2" from Meiji period (1868-1912).

An antique wood statue of the Boddhisattva Wei Tuo, the guardian of the Buddhist principles, dating to the late Qing dynasty. Carved in two parts with gilding and red color. He is standing on a rock imitating base, dressed as a warrior and holding the vajra staff. Condition: one hand with tiny losses, parts of scarf missing, top of helmet with a lost insert, vajra staff, one hand and back with glued patches. Dimension: total height: 38.5 cm, figure: 31.5 cm, weight: 1300 g.

From Yunnan Province, this minority hand woven open container has wonderful age and patina. The wife said it was used at family dinners for pouring wine, the husband said used for pouring tea. I just smiled and nodded in agreement. The piece was obviously woven tight enough to contain liquid. There is a small piece of bamboo inserted into the basket spout which aids in controlling the flow. Condition is very good and the piece measures 8" x 5" high.

When you look up Art Nouveau in the dictionary, the picture of this beauty of a pendant should be there as an illustration of Art Nouveau. It is very versatile, because it is wearable as it was originally meant to be a watch fob or a pendant. The center flower is decorated by an approximately 0.05Ct diamond. The diameter of the pendant is 1 ¼”and the height with the large bail is 1 ¾”.

The satin camphor glass Golliwogg perfume was the very FIRST version of the "Le Golliwogg" perfume to be sold. The bottle design and name are based on a character created by Englishwoman, Florence K. Finely potted porcelain bowl, painted in pale famille rose enamels with fruiting and flowering gourd vines. The outside decorated with four "dragon and phoenix" medallions on a yellow ground. Base with iron red six character "Guangxu" mark. Condition: foot rim with an over glazed tiny chip (see photo no. 3), some wear to gilding. Dimension: Diameter: 13.8 cm, 5.9 cm high.

This is an elegant 14Kt yellow gold bow pendant circa 1910 decorated by twenty-six seed pearls and an approximately 0.15Ct old-mine diamond. The pendant is on a 16" 14Kt yellow gold chain. The length is 1 1/2" and the width is 5/8".

From the island of Malaita in the Solomon Islands, this alafolo, or war club, is in very fine condition, with a rich dark patina. Measuring just under 40", it still retains much of the kaolin inlay and shows surface irregularities from the hand work. It dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. A large Chinese carved Ivory figure of the god of longevity, Shou Lao. Carved from one whole tusk an antique item in very fine condition artist signed. Measuring approx. 14 inches tall a fine example of Chinese art. Shou Lao is depicted in the traditional manner as an old man with a long white beard and a high, bald forehead holding his gnarled staff in one hand and the peach of immortality in the other, also a symbol of longevity.
