Not all dolls have a time line built into them but this one says to me, she is 6 or 7 years old and is dressed for the first day of school. She has on a great dress that fits her perfectly. Under her dress is a one piece coverall,(I think they are called onesies) that has to have been made for her. She has a great embroidered face with big eyes, a pinched nose and little round O mouth and all of this is framed with a full head of yarn hair...

This is a big blue/green heavy Amish doll, cotton and rag stuffed, solid doll with a "no no" face that I am sure came later. It is a naïve pencil or ink drawn face and has a nice look but her face was originally blank. Her body, head, and legs are all the same blue/green fabric but her arms are off white linen. They may or may not be original. Her dress is brown with a gray coverall apron and on her head is the traditional black bonnet. All the clothing is from the same era as she is 1890/1900...

Not everyone loves their black cloth dolls showing lots of age and wear and tear. I do like some dolls as found and in a state of lots of love and use so because of that I did put the red antique cloth skirt on her to make her a little more respectable. Also someone could cut the ragged sleeves off but I just can't do it.

At least one older tack remains from the earlier arms. She is solid, heavy, no worm holes, but there are a few nail holes near the base on one side. This big lollipop head black cloth doll with her sweet hand made dress and two buttons for eyes still manages to have a persona. She has a stuffed cotton body, jointed arms and legs, stitch defined fingers and large feet pointing left. (When I see that my mind thinks, she is signaling for a left turn.) I was very surprised to find a Poppet doll dressed as a Native American. I looked up what tribes were in Kentucky and it turns out there were three or four. Shawnee, Cherokee, Chippewa and Chickasaw. This is one big heavy girl with a long face and slightly drooping cheeks. She is no spring chicken so I call her Mother Hen, in a loving way.

With a little homespun linen top over a red hand sewn cotton dress, this sweet late 1800's doll is in very nice condition. Her body is all original and stuffed with cotton and rags making her quite heavy. She sits easily and holds her round bald head upright with hardly a bauble. Four little doll house dolls. Two are bisque with one having movable arms and the other with movable arms and legs. The tiniest doll of all a sweet little frozen Charlotte with a Merry Christmas ribbon wrapped in a figure 8 around her. This is not newly added it looks to be original. They came in this Lord and Taylor box and look to have been stored for a long time. The largest is 2 1/2" and the smallest 2". 3 very nice late 1800's little dolls.
