One of the most interesting - and few - female figures of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance, Doris Smith Chamberlin was a Texas-born American who decided to move to Mexico in the 1940s to open her own workshop after having completed post-graduate studies in art and having taught woodworking, textile-making and silver-smithing for a few years in California (I am grateful to Decotini for the information)...

Rare offering:Coveted aesthetic movement flora and fauna theme showing sterling dimensional beetle on a leaf pin, by George Shiebler, New York, 1880. This beautiful piece has a slight gold wash on the leaf highlighting the silver beetle and measures 2 1/4" wide by 2 1/8" wide. Rectangular, curved panels with raised decoration of stylized berry-like, long-stemmed flowers and leaves, on a textured background. The screw backs are attached with thick solder, and are marked sterling. Each earring measures approximately 5/8 inch by 3/8 inch. Weight: 4.9 grams total

A stunning vintage Mexican bracelet in sterling silver in the classic Fred Davis Chevron design. Featured in Mexican Silver, by Morrill and Berk on page 27. Measures approximately 7 7/8 " long and 1 1/8" wide. In very nice condition, has some minor scratches and a little tarnish. Marked Made in Mexico Sterling. Has a box clasp that snaps securely. The craftsmanship and construction on this bracelet point to Fred Davis' work. Pre Eagle, (1948). Looks great on!

Featuring a simple design of vertical bands bound horizontally, this ring is probably 1920s or 1930s, influenced by arts and crafts design. The band has a raised design of tiny discs. The inside of the band bears the sterling mark as well as the maker’s mark of a stylized W inside an inverted triangle, for J.J. White Manufacturing Co., Providence, RI. Today we are offering from the taller of Margot de Taxco a large floral necklace and matching bracelet. This design 5488 comes in two sizes with this being the larger example at 1.25in. tall. The repousse is thick silver and both pieces have a combined weight of 115 grams. The bracelet is 7in. long and it will hook into the necklace for a long chain. The necklace is 18in. long. Both are properly hallmarked as shown. Without dents or any type of damage just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!

Circa 1944-1948, this Hubert Harmon pin is hand-wrought with exquisite repoussé silver work. It's a highly detailed piece, featuring a bird and fish in Harmon's signature whimsical style. The fish has an amethyst eye. Measures 3 1/2" x 2 7/8". Weight is 21.5 grams. Signed and hallmarked "Hand Made Sterling Hubert Harmon Made in Mexico", along with his winged feet. Collector quality.

Completely handmade, this sterling silver pin is formed similar to a stylized sprig of lily-of-the-valley. It also bears an engraved inscription on the back that reads: “Anna F. Davies/The College Settlement of Philadelphia/1898-1941.” Davies was a founder of the settlement movement, and ran this settlement house during those years. The pin is also marked sterling and has a secure safety catch. It measures 3 1/8 inches long by about 1 inch wide. Weight: 19.5 grams

A modernist 830 silver ring with a brutalist design from Sweden. Has 5 square shaped cut outs and contrasting textures across the top. The top is a raised disk that sits on 2 arms and measures 7/8" across.

Currently measures size 7, but is adjustable.

Marked with the three crowns national mark, 830 for the silver content and S for the silver standard.

Has minor tarnish. There are two tiny cut marks on the back of the shank.

A rare heavy sterling silver brooch by William Spratling, Taxco. Measures 2 3/4" long and 1 1/8" wide. Marked with the WS in a circle incised mark, Silver Mexico and 925. Has a slight dent to the center and is missing the rollover part of the clasp. A rare find for the collector.

This Corocraft sterling jelly belly door knocker pin is 2 1/2" long x 1 5/16". This door knocker pin was patented in 1946 by G. Verrecchio.

Fabulous bauhaus design modernist rhodocrosite and sterling ring, c.1960's. The band is an integral part of the design and it is signed "STERLING SILVER". It's been a very long time since I offered a Mexican clamper bracelet and I am happy to be starting again with a classic Taxco design, this repousse and shadowbox "Quetzalcoatl" example. The maestro who signs it I am familiar with - he worked in Taxco and it seems that clamper bracelets were one of his favorite forms...

Antonio Pineda inlaid this creation with horizontal and vertical onyx pieces alternating. It measures .75in. tall and is 7.5in. long. The weight is 81 grams heavy. The onyx is all perfect with no chips or damage. One picture features the Fred Davis design necklace also listed on my site with this bracelet. This piece is sleek and timeless and perfect for career wear. Certainly a strong consideration for your jewel box.

This is a 3" figural dancer brooch with very intricate enameling. It is hallmarked "sterling" and " made in Siam". Great attention to detail. It is circa 1930-1980.

Most of these designs represent mythological character from the Tale of Ramayama.The enameling and the gilding are in excellent condition.

Silver gilt earrings from the years just after the French Revolution, with hallmarks used 1798 – 1809. “Poissarde” (fishmonger’s wife) model with hinges fastening in the front motif, in this case a faceted ball. The little loops stopped the earrings from sliding forwards in front of the ear lobes. Diameter "1 / 2.8 cm. Condition: fine.

Fabulous and glam clipback earrings in 900 silver with a gold wash, in Etruscan style with applied wirework and coin form drops. Marked 900. Vintage, from an estate, 1970s or earlier. 3 1/2 inches long and 1 5/8 inches wide. Excellent condition. All drops are present. Photos enlarged to show detail.

This stunning bracelet by Felipe Martinez has the most gorgeous Azur-Malachite stones in vivid shades of blue and green set in thick sculped links. Measures 6 5/8" long by 1" wide and weighs 76.7 grams. Hallmarked "Piedra y Plata, Martinez, Sterling, Taxco, 175" and the eagle 3. No damage noted, it has a secure clasp and attached safety chain. Martinez was known for his superb lapidary skills and this beautiful bracelet is a wonderful example of his work.
