Stunning antique Austro Hungarian silver girandole drop earrings in 935 silver with glass paste stones, in an 18th century style. Circa 1910. 935 silver is a bit higher in silver content than sterling, and the designation was used in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The design and construction are characteristic of Austro Hungarian jewelry. Marked 935. With screwbacks. The stones are held in tiny prong settings. Made of gilded sterling silver, this lovely pin features intricately applied bands to imitate wirework in a scroll design. The pin is set with a pink coral-colored glass cabochon that exhibits minor wear at the very top. It has a very secure C-clasp and is marked sterling on the back. It is conservatively dated to around 1960 (could be earlier), and is possibly Asian. It measures 1 1/8 inches across.
Corpus Artisans Doris Silver was a store where extremely talented maestros worked in the back of her taller. If she liked the pieces that were made she would buy them. The workers rather came and went in between jobs and such. Chato Castillo being one. I have seen numerous names along with the Doris Marks as well as just the Doris marks alone. This work in repousse and with a height of almost 5in. tall is the most dimensional work I think I have ever seen...
Circa 1950's, this bold, edgy cuff from Bernice Goodspeed is a book-piece design shown on p. 132 of the Morrill/Berk book "Mexican Silver".
It's a hand-wrought piece with an intricate deeply carved design and an oxidized background. This is a fabulous bracelet, and one which is rarely seen.
