Cast as a lion's head and upper body, this ring is especially compelling for its intricate detail. The lion's mane continues from the head down to the ring's shoulder, and the tail rises from the band on the opposite side. It shows hardly any wear; the patina on the lower band suggests there is some age to the ring. The ring is unmarked and is sized to 6 ½; the lion's head measures about ¾ inch wide and ½ inch high. This unusual sterling silver ring features a curved disc with applied molten strands of silver forming an organic dome. The inside of the disc exhibits a volcanic finish. A lovely early 19th century sterling silver & paste belt buckle. This 2-7/8" x 1-3/8" buckle features antique hand cut clear paste stones, and the central pinion hinged section swings either way, with three teeth to hold the belt opening and the section that holds the belt end has three shallower teeth to secure the other end of the belt. They are both secured to the centre of the belt but are made so each moves independently of the other...

Rare modernist earrings by Irvin and Bonnie Burkee, a husband and wife team who created unique jewelry in their studio from the late 1940s until the 1970s.
