A puzzling piece - though it is signed “Birks”, the hallmark does not look like the Canadian company’s commonly encountered marks - this vintage sterling vermeil pin is a small work of art. Slender and elegant, the flower it represents consists of a textured silver stem while its leaves and bloom are made of molded jadeite glass. The glass is supple and glistens thanks to the glaze that was applied over it and the brooch has that romantic, nature-loving air of 1940s jewelry...

These teardrop-shaped earrings feature purple, grey, violet and black feathers enclosed between pieces of resin or a clear composite. A cut-out zigzag design reveals the feathers through the sterling silver frame. The earrings show some tarnish; they have not been aggressively cleaned to avoid damaging the inserts. The screwbacks are in good working order; one exhibits the eagle 3 mark for Mexican sterling, the other, an unidentified geometrical maker’s mark...

This sterling silver ring features a ‘taco’-like folded design with a zigzag band inside sitting on its edge. The inside of the folded piece has been deeply oxidized with a translucent finish. The ring exhibits various kinds of tool marks. The ring is possibly Norwegian, with a mark of 925S inside the band; there are also maker’s initials of JPC, possibly for Danish silversmith Jens Peter Clausen of Copenhagen (1973-1981). This handmade wide band ring features a random design of molten drops on a textured surface. The irregular band shape has an upturned edge along the top, where the opposite edge comes to a rounded point. It bears the post-1967 Italian mark for silver, hallmarked for the city of Siena; the hallmark is double-struck, so the maker's number could read 722, 712 or something similar...

This unusual sterling silver ring features a curved disc with applied molten strands of silver forming an organic dome. The inside of the disc exhibits a volcanic finish. A huge Coro retro gilt sterling coat pin from the 1940s. This 4-1/2" x 2-5/8" brooch features branches and flowers with aqua blue claw-set foil-backed rhinestone centers in a swirling holder. It has a safety catch, it is signed CORO STERLING with a small etched S16, and it is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs, but please note that the blue rhinestones are a little foggy - the settings are open-backed...
