American gag-a-day comic strip, originally started by Jeff Keate & Jim McMenamy on June 26, 1944, but was taken over by Buford Tune on October 16, and continued for the next thirty years.[1] The strip was distributed by Publishers Syndicate and also appeared in comic book form. This work is ink can pencil on paper, double signed lower right, dedication to Martin Heflin, brother of famed film actor Van Heflin.

One of dozens of drawings by this artist that I recently acquired, (ask to see others, not shown in my shop) this is a sketch of a dockside building in New England, in brush and ink on paper, the drawing itself 13 3/4" by 16", signed at lower right and dated there '58, by California and Massachusetts listed artist DAISY MARGUERITE HUGHES (1882-1968). Hughes was born and died in Los Angeles but in between she spent much time in the Provincetown art colony on Cape Cod...

This is an original charcoal on paper portrait drawing of a young woman, 18" by 12 1/2" inside the mat (25" by 19" as framed), signed "J Floch" at lower right. His prints and drawings (see a lithograph by the artist, in my shop) are quite affordable, while paintings have brought to the $80,000 area at auction in Europe and America. Floch was born in Austria, but spent the later part of his life in the New York area...

TWO pen and ink drawings, identical size and frames, 9 7/8" by 7 5/8", one titled "Down the Gulch" and the other "Slave Quarters, Glen Haven, Colo.", each signed "A.C." and one dated 1936. I don't know who "A.C." might be/have been, but, if you collect Colorado art, you might like this pair of drawings of a mountain road and a mountain cabin. You might wish to reframe them. If anyone knows who the artist is, please do let me know.
