This exceptional oval 60" x 32" French Painting is Signed Gustave Bouvard?? The painting was purchased from an antique dealer in Baton Rouge, La and he said the painting came from Napolean Bonaparte's Brothers Estate. It is signed in the lower left corner and is in Excellent Condition. Has original frame and stretcher. We are researching this painting and if you have any information please advise.

A French oil on canvas painting of a flirting couple, the male dressed as a pierrot clown, she in an elegant ornate dress, the work signed at lower left with what appears as "Jos. Bellet". The work could possibly be by JEAN PIERRE JOSEPH ALFRED BELLET DU POISAT (1823-1883), but further research may be required to confirm the artist. Measurements are 13" by 9 3/4" (20 1/2" by 16 3/4" in old gold frame)...

**One of two very similar works by the artist in my shop, preferably to be kept together- Oil on canvas, 16 1/4" by 12 3/4", in an old master style but of mid to late 19th century date, teaturing a house, tree and dogs and travelers, signed at lower left by noted, auctioned artist PIERRE LOUIS JOSEPH DE CONINCK (1828-1910). This is an almost monochromatic, very understated, subtle painting; perhaps a study for a larger, highly finished work...

The pair of antique paintings will make for a highly decorative addition to a home. One of the apparently unsigned and undated works features mostly vegetables, with a game bird and possibly a fish, while in the other work, fruit predominates. The rustic paintings were executed by a competent though not highly refined hand. Measurements are similar but not identical...

A landscape painting with feathery trees silhouetted against a luminous sky, a female figure walking at right with brown cow on the path which borders a creek, signed illegibly at lower right and dated there 1852. Someone invested some money in preserving the work, as it has been relined in recent times. The original stretcher was retained. The work is now stable. It is not perfectly flat however, there being some roll to the canvas especially at bottom...

Large 27" by 33 1/2" (33" by 39" framed), oil on canvas still life cornucopia painting of fruit and flowers including tulips and carnations, in a basket set on a vaguely defined table top against a dark background, apparently unsigned, circa mid 19th century but in the tradition of 17th century Dutch still life. This came recently from a fine area home, where it was proudly displayed in the living room. I do not see a signature...

French late 19th century oil on canvas still life of flowers in various vessels on a tabletop, signed at upper right corner "J. Billou" (the "J" could be a "G" or "T"). Oddly I do not see a listing that would correspond with this name, but this is clearly a talented artist. The work measures 19 1/2" by 24" (22 1/2" by 27" framed). The colors and handling remind of some Renoir still life paintings. This was found "as-is" in northern New Jersey...

"Admirer de loin" oil on board 13 3/4" W x 10 1/2" H Edouard Toudouze was born on July 28, 1848 in Paris. He was the youngest son of August Gabriel Toudouze, a French architect who was, for a time, the Chief Architect of Marseilles. His mother, Adèle Anais Colin-Toudouze, was the daughter of Alexandre-Marie Colin, a history painter. Toudouze was also the nephew of Jean-Baptiste-Auguste Leloir. He completed studies during his youth at a school in Sainte-Barbe...

Honore Daumier, French, 1808-1879. These Lithographs were printed in the French Newspaper in the 19th C. Thus there is newsprint on the back. They are signed in the plate and are about 9" by 12".

Emile Lambinet, French, 1815-1877, oil on panel, Punts at a Quiet Landing, 11 x 16 inches, cradle backing, signed lower right.

An oil on canvas laid on Masonite painting of a young brunette woman, the view from the breasts up, against a neutral dark background, signed in red illegibly at top left corner. The piece measures 17 1/2" by 12 3/4" (24 1/2" by 19 1/2" framed). More than likely the artist is French, judging from the overall style, signature, and the stenciled numbers "1208" on the frame. The artist is probably listed, but my efforts to decipher this signature have been unsuccessful...

This is an unsigned 19th century copy of the Francois Boucher original that was acquired by The Louvre, in Paris, in 1852. This copy was probably created within twenty-five years after Boucher painted his original.
