Circa 1960 oil on canvas painting of the familiar and oft-painted Moulin Rouge night club in the Montmartre section of Paris, 12" by 16" (18" by 22" in the pleasant period frame), signed at lower right by mid century Parisian artist H. PIERREL. I do not see a formal "listing" for the artist, although I have encountered other works by this talented hand. Oil on canvasboard painting of the famous Place du Tertre view of Sacre Coeur church in Paris' Montmartre district, measuring 20" by 16" (24" by 19 3/4" framed). Although the work is stamped "All Reproduction Rights Are Reserved By The Artist", there does not appear to be a signature. On a piece of old tape affixed to the back is the name "J Bush 9/20" but I suspect this may be unrelated to the artist...

Georges Robin, French, 1904-1928, oil on canvas, signed lower right in good condition. It is 25.6" by 36.25" in a lovely early 20th C French frame 35" by 45". This beautiful luminous Post Impressionist painting is titled in French verso "Automne Bord de Sevre Nantaise" Banks of the Sevre River in Nantaise, France in Autumn". His prices go up to more than $10,000.

"Ile du levant" Oil on canvas, 15” x 22” Jean Vollet was born at Montayral, France on June 29, 1935. After studying art at the Ecole d'Arts Graphiques in Bordeaux, he went to Paris in 1962. There he devoted his time entirely to painting and began to display his work in 1964 at the Salon des Independants. He has since been met with tremendous success exhibiting in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Beverly Hills, Cannes...etc...

Gontier, French. This beautiful Cezannesque landscape of a French hillside village is oil on board. It is in excellent condition, signed lower right, Palada, Gontier, 1926. It is 13 3/8"H by 9 3/4" W , 34 CM H by 25 CM W in a 2 1/4" Frame.

Blanche Camus, French, 1881-1968. This wonderful portrait of a woman on a terrace is 18.5" by 21.2" in an impressive 6" French Impressionist Frame. The canvas has been relined and there is minimal inpainting on the canvas with no repairs. It is from circa 1920-30 and is an extremely fine example of the use of broken brush strokes to convey the spray of sunshine and shadows in the scene.

Oil on canvas, 26" by 32" (34" by 40" framed, signed at lower right by mid century French well listed artist ABEL GERBAUD (1888-1954). This is a work in that modern School of Paris style popular at mid century. Note the title on the stretcher, "l'islandais dans le port de St. Goustain"...

Original acrylic on canvas by Herb Jackson (American, NC, born 1945). 30" by 22" canvas alone, 33 1/2" by 25 1/2" in its original gallery frame. This painting is signed, titled "Blue Gate" and dated 1987 verso. It also bears the original label from the Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte NC. Herb Jackson is a well-known American abstract Expressionist. He had over 150 solo exhibitions in the US and abroad, and his work is represented in over 100 museums.

An oil on board painting, (19" by 16", and 27" by 23" framed), of a French landscape, by the French mid century impressionist artist ROGER ETIENNE (1922-2011). The painting is signed at lower left by the artist and dated there 1975, and at lower right he wrote a dedication to previous owners "Pour Balli & John". The scene, an avenue leading into a small town or village, is at once impressionist and also Expressionist, with strong brush strokes especially in sky, and some points of bright color...

A circa 1970 painting of a plaza in Paris, 22 1/2" by 26" in silver and black framing, signed at lower left with what appears as "Lietti". The work is in the style of many of the Montmartre tourist painters of the time, but is unusual in that it is painted in grays, blacks, white, and a grayish tan at far right. This Minimalist palette would lend it to being room-friendly in your Mid Century setting...
