Attributed to Henri-Alphonse Barnoin, French, 1882-1935. "Marché du plage de Concarneau", depicting the seaside market outside the Brittany fishing village of Concarneau. The town is clearly identifiable from the distinctive town ramparts and tower in the background. In the foreground, Breton women in traditional dress gather to buy and sell foodstuffs while a few fisherman in small boats work at the shore. The loose brushwork is more in the style of Barnoin's pastels and gouaches...

Large 27" by 33 1/2" (33" by 39" framed), oil on canvas still life cornucopia painting of fruit and flowers including tulips and carnations, in a basket set on a vaguely defined table top against a dark background, apparently unsigned, circa mid 19th century but in the tradition of 17th century Dutch still life. This came recently from a fine area home, where it was proudly displayed in the living room. I do not see a signature. The painting would be an ideal addition to a traditional interio...

An impressive work, oil on canvas laid on Masonite, circa 1950, featuring a twilight view of the Seine, bridge, Notre Dame, and numerous pedestrians and vehicles, all in an impressionistic hand, measuring 23" by 31" (31" by 39" in attractive period distressed style white frame). The painting is signed at lower left with what appears as "Fred" or possibly "Freda" or "Frieda" and after that "de XXX". PAIR of framed Paris scenes on board, one showing Notre Dame and the Seine, the other a street scene with a 1930's car and figures, each signed "Montal" at lower right. I would guess these are tourist pieces in the Montmartre painters tradition, probably dating to the 1950's or so. At 13 1/2" by 7 1/2" framed they are identical in size, and they are framed identically as well, though there is wear to each frame, showing as gold areas against a darker background. These are quite decorative and...

A fine oil on canvas painting, the subject a water powered mill by a peaceful stream in the autumnal French countryside, signed at lower left by the noted painter and graphic artist PAUL EMILE LECOMTE (1877-1950). The work (26" by 20", and " by " as framed) exhibits the highly developed classic impressionist technique for which the artist is noted. Lecomte was a student of his father, Paul Lecomte Sr. (1842-1920). He studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. His subjects are commonly harbors, mark...
