Joseph Mallord William Turner,(attributed to). This oil on canvas is 8 1/8" by 12 1/2" in a 3 1/2"carved guiltwood frame. It is in excellent condition and is signed and titled verso. This artist is considered a romantasist or a impressionist precursor. He is known for landscapes, lakes, castles, ruins, ships, coast lines and his paintings command up to $1,000,000.

A contemporary painting on canvas, unframed, 20" by 15 3/4", unframed, the theme seemingly an out-of-this-world painting of space and planets. Difficult to describe, but this sort of imagery is popular, similarsold along the Venice, California boardwalk and elsewhere by enterprising artists. Some of the white spatter seems to be sprayed on. Blue is the general color. Condition is excellent.

Henry Pember Smith 1854-1907 Lyme Connecticut This is a fine oil on canvas painting by Lyme Connecticut artist Henry Pember Smith. This Summer scene at the pond is signed lower right, Henry P. Smith, The canvas measures 14X18 inches, This painting is in very fine condition. Best known for his Cottage scenes in and around Connecticut. Nicely framed in a later gold frame.

Oil on canvas, 24" by 36" (33" by 45" as framed), signed at lower left "Cantrell". This is a good sized oil of a peaceful scene with tree and a house against the setting sun. I date the work to the 1970's or 1980's. Condition good with some light craquelure and very slight dimpling, but no holes. The frame upper left corner is separating just a little bit.

Oil on canvas, 24" by 36" (28" by 39" as framed), UNSIGNED, but certainly by the popular listed California artist HERBERT SARTELLE (1885-1955) (I will stand by this). This is a classic mountain scene favored by the artist (he seems to have painted that particular mountain over and over again), with large eucalyptus trees and a lake with distant mountains, all executed in Sartelle's unique impressionistic style and characteristic color palette. The painting probably dates to the 1940s or 1950s...

A small unframed oil on Masonite painting, 8" by 10", signed at lower left indecipherably, the work a fantasy landscape painted very much in the style of acclaimed California artist Eyvind Earle (1916-2000). The neon green sunlit strip, the surreal shadows cast by rocks there, the bare tree, the hillside, all are reminiscent of Earle's work. A silvery frame might work on this. Surface is a bit dusty, and heavily varnished. There are some very light drips of something at right center.

This is a rather early (likely circa 1925) work. Oil on canvas laid on board painting of the Grand Canyon, 17" by 21" (20" by 24" as framed), apparently unsigned, circa 1940's, possibly earlier, executed in a naive manner that borders on or crosses the line to folk art. I think the technique is intentionally naive and primitive, as opposed to just the less-refined work of an amateur artist. The frame (see close-up) adds to the folk art aspects. This is a fine addition to your Southwest or Southwest folk art collection.
