Oil on cotton canvas, unframed, 12" by 15 7/8", the scene female figures in a marketplace with their baskets of foodstuffs, signed at lower right center "Getro". This work likely dates to the 1980's or later and is representative of the colorful folk art works produced for tourists by the many talented artists in the country. Condition is good and with a standard 12 by 16 frame added, this would be ready for the wall...

Born in Washburn, Missouri, Edgar Payne became one of the foremost plein-air landscape painters of California in the early 20th century. He is best known for his majestic Sierra Nevada Mountain scenes, and depicted so many Indians on horseback riding through the Sierra Nevada Mountains that a mountain lake, Lake Payne, was named for him. He painted many works "en plein air" and also did numerous sketches from which he later did studio paintings...

The artist created traditional horizontal format landscape works which appear frequently at auction in Germany, but I see only a very few portraits or genre works in the records...

Measuring 12 3/4" by 11 1/2" as framed, the painting is signed at lower left by the artist, MARVIN KELLY (GARCIA) and is dated there 1991. On the reverse is an affixed paper label of Galeria Josefina in Managua, Nicaragua, giving the title as "Laguna de Masaya"...

A contemporary painting on canvas, unframed, 20" by 15 3/4", unframed, the theme seemingly an out-of-this-world painting of space and planets. Difficult to describe, but this sort of imagery is popular, similarsold along the Venice, California boardwalk and elsewhere by enterprising artists. Some of the white spatter seems to be sprayed on. Blue is the general color. Condition is excellent.
