There is a high likelihood that the artist who created this attractive painting was from mountainous Wales in the British Isles, as I have seen another painting online, identically signed, dated 1914, the scene depicted in that example given as the River Wye in Wales...

This antique early 19th-century Spanish Colonial Mexican Retablo features Our Lady Refuge of Sinners (Nuestra Senora de Refugio de Los Pecadores). It is finely hand-painted in oil on a tin panel. The painting depicts the Virgin Mary holding the Baby Jesus wrapped in a cloth. The Baby Jesus holds his mother's hand and sleeve for support. An interesting Southwestern painting of a sunny courtyard in a Spanish-style building (church or mission) of the American Southwest---likely California, or Mexico---glimpsed through a grand old doorway, signed at lower right by artist Laurence McLaughlin. The 18" by 24" painting (26" by 31 1/2" framed) is not old (maybe 1970's or 1980's) but the traditional subject and technique could make it pass for an older work. Surprisingly I have not been able to locate a listed artist by this name...
