The third part of Note 10 looks at the prints Maki probably did in the 1969 to 1975 period but that, at the time of Dan Tretiak's writing this, had not yet come to light.

This is an example of the MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985) lithograph "The Tribe of Joseph", from The Jerusalem Windows series of the early 1960's. Measurements are 12 1/2" by 9 3/4", so, this is I believe from a book, and it is much smaller in size than the edition of 150 pencil signed version of the print. It is however a true lithograph and not a dot offset print. I examined this out of the frame (and it is loose under the mat currently, floating)...

Internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Onobrakpeya (b. 1932 ) produced this expressionistic image of a black fishes during one of his earlier periods of artistic expression in 1963. The serigraph depicts gold fish swimming in a pond or lake expressing, perhaps, the beauties of African natural life. Haku Maki in 1968 did a group of prints depicting animals from Asia’s Zodiac, which has an animal for each year in a 12-year cycle. Maki called this series of prints Animal Song. This one is Animal Song 申, the character for the Year of the Monkey. The print is square, measuring 17 1/8 in W x 17 1/8in H, and is in excellent condition.

Haku Maki produced this “pair” of prints in 1968. The first image is Child. This is the first time Maki produced an image with Child as a theme. Poem 68-52. The second one is his kanji for Water. Poem 68-53. This image was used again in the set of 21 prints he produced for Festive Wine, which was issued in 1969. The colors in both are strikingly beautiful in these images – as they also are as prints. Maki signed each in white ink, something he rarely did...

Woodcut color print "Jeremiah", 23" by 15 1/2" (33" by 25" framed), signed in pencil at extreme lower right corner and dated there 1957, by the well-known Jewish artist JAKOB STEINHARDT (1887-1968). In 1971 Haku Maki produced two large prints, one Sun and one Moon. Sun shows a dramatic sun with a red dash all surrounded by a gold field-- Poem 71-100. Poem 72-101 is Moon with a similar design. There is a dark spot in the center. Each print was produced in editions of 156. This pair was offered privately and on eBay by a very insightful seller from Tennessee. After these presumably successful runs Maki did a smaller pair, each with the same title and same design...

A scarce and desirable lithograph by Vietnamese master artist Vu Cao Dam (1908-2000), titled "Mother and Child" or "Maternite", 1969, pencil signed by the artist and numbered 119/150 at lower left (hidden by the present mat). An example of the lithograph "Cecile's Chastity", from the series "Three Plays from the Marquis de Sade", issued in 1969, signed in pencil lower right, numbered 52/160 at lower left, by the world-famous surrealist artist SALVADOR DALI (1904-1989). The unframed sheet measures 25 1/2" by 19 1/2". The image area is clean and problem-free, though I note significant browning and staining in the margins, the outline of a previous mat clearly visible. This is an unusually bright, saturated-color example of the MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985) lithograph "Romeo and Juliet", printed by Mourlot. This is a well known image by Chagall, created in 1964 for the ceiling of the Opera Garnier in Paris.
