Scarce 1941 color lithograph print titled in the lower left margin "Babes in the wood" and facsimile signature in right margin by the noted California artist CONRAD BUFF (1886-1975). These prints are sometimes found with pencil signatures, and many were issued in small editions generally under 200 examples. I cannot be certain as to the edition size of this particular title...

The print is apparently not from the artist and printer-signed edition of 103 which brings upwards of $25,000 when offered at auction. This appears to be a later, posthumous example. Joseph Pennell 1857-1926 American This is an original pencil signed lithograph by American artist Joseph Pennell. He traveled down to Panama in 1912 to record the building of the Canal. He created a series of images from that trip. This image is titled Cranes at Miraflores Lock, Panama, Printed in an edition of only 100. This image measures 22 1/4X16 3/4 inches on a Fabiano watermarked, laid type paper. Sheet size is 25 1/2X 20 1/2 inches.
