This is an example of Haku Maki’s production of small prints that were known as San Mon Ban. These prints were usually 2in x 2in but there were instances of larger ones. This one measures 6in x 6in. Dan Tretiak writes that Haku Maki began creating San Mon Ban in early 1975, a set of seven volumes of small prints. For some he used themes from the past, others were new themes that he used again and again in succeeding years. A small rendering for collectors to add to their holdings.

A large lithograph print, the sheet 28 1/2" by 22 3/4", unframed, signed at center right with his monogram "JR" and star symbol, dated there 1950. This is a work of American illustrator artist JAMES REYNOLDS (1896-1996). The imagery of flowers and leaves reminds of the work of American twentieth century artist Charles Burchfield. Reynolds is often confused in art auction records and biographies with western American contemporary artist James Reynolds.

A black and white poster from the Susan Spiritus Gallery of Newport Beach, California, for an exhibition held in the spring of 1983 of the works of noted American photographer HENRY GILPIN (1922-2011), the poster **hand signed** by Gilpin at bottom center. The image featured is perhaps the best known photo by Gilpin, "Highway #1", the world-famous, dramatic coastal highway hugging the Central California coast. Gilpin, born in Ohio, served as a pilot in Europe during World War II...

Original etching on paper watermarked "France" (probably Arches paper), 9 3/4" by 7 7/8" (image only), and the sheet with at least 1 1/8" margins (up to nearly 2" at right), pencil signed at lower right by the noted American printmaker LUIGI LUCIONI (1900-1988). Something of a mystery piece......a black and white photo, 12 5/8" by 11" including thin margins on three sides, (in a temporary protective-only frame), unsigned and unattributed, in a frame which bears old Christie's Los Angeles photo department sale and lot information that does not correspond with the image (I checked with Christie's photographs dept). The image of the moving train is in black and white though there is a hint of a pink/violet tint in a portion of the train sides...

This is a work by highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971), titled in pencil "Rockport" at lower left and signed at lower right "TWNason (M.W.N.)". This would appear to be a posthumous signature by a relative after the artist's death. This example measures 4 1/4" by 6 1/4" inside the mat and 11 1/4" by 13 1/4" framed. The print appears to be in generally good condition with some scattered foxing, especially in the margin area...
