Hammered silver sugar tongs from Martin Mayer in Mainz, Germany, c 1920-30. Martin Mayer’s firm, founded 1888, was a well-known manufacturer of silver cutlery and jewelry until it was confiscated by the Nazis in 1938. Peter Behrens, Hans Christiansen and Patriz Huber are known to have worked for Martin Mayer. Of these, Behrens - one of the founders of the Deutscher Werkbund – is the most likely to have designed these sugar nips. German silver standard mark (crown and 835) and makers mark MM...

This wonderful pair of sterling silver triple candle holder was made in Germany circa 1920. The elegant fluted design decorated candle holders are 10 ¼” high, 11” wide at the widest part and the base is 5 3/8” wide at the widest part. The hallmarks are the crown and half moon, 925 STERLING, and a bear. The candle holders are hollow (not filled with cement) in the bottom there are some weights for stability, but those can be removed by unscrewing the bottom cover...

Although the detailed design is similar, each of these Spratling candlesticks were handwrought a few years apart. Each carries specific Spratling hallmarks coinciding with their construction dates. The earlier example is 2 1/8" high. The later is 2 1/4" high. Each measures 2 1/4" across at the base. The pair weigh 155 grams. Both are in beautiful condition. Two sets of English Art Deco sterling silver cocktail picks, the finials in the form of brightly enameled roosters. Each pick has unusual double tines that firmly hold olives, cherries, etc., and a hook on the back side that can rest on the edge of tall glass to keep them from sinking to the bottom. Each is hallmarked the silversmith Adolph Scott ("Amnora") and with the datemark for Birmingham, 1929. The picks are presented in their original fitted boxes.

Rare sterling silver ice tongs in Kirk’s popular “Old Maryland Plain” pattern. This pattern, designed in 1850, is one of the oldest patterns in Baltimore silver. Because it is so simple, it can appear both Colonial or contemporary, and works well with nearly any silver pattern. The tongs are marked with later 20th century Kirk hallmarks.
