Russian hand painted hinged top Lacquer Box, signed and dated by "Artist name, "1973" on the lower right side, 2" high, 6 1/4" x 4 3/8" wide. Small chips about 1/8" to 1/4" wide on the lacquer surface, some wear and tear, small scratches on the bottom outside.

Nice wooden recipe box in the form of a book. The cover has burnt and painted decoration showing a cocktail shaker and a beverage. The "title" of the book is "The Art of Mixing Cocktails". The cover opens to reveal a storage area for paper recipe cards specifically designed for cocktail recipes. Ca. 1920. Very good condition; the leather binding on the hinge has dried out and has surface flaking. 6-3/4" x 5-1/4".
This is an exquisite set of nine dresser pieces that are in fantastic shape. The pieces include a cuticle stick, nail buffer, mirror, brush, shoe horn, powder jar, cotton ball jar, toothbrush holder and monogrammed jar. These pieces do show some wear but for their age and the amount of love and use they are in outstanding shape. The mirror is an especially amazing find, very heavy, good quality glass. Here is a whimsical piece of folk art, possibly depicting an Australian Cassowary. A plastic coconut shell serves as the body, the feathered tail and headdress are accented by a furry brown material while the spindly neck and legs made from sticks. Unsigned.
This beautifully handcrafted vintage tortoise shell case was made to hold cigars in the 1920's having a stylized leaf design incised in gold metal inside, simple gold clasp and domed rectangular shape. Tests 10K gold. Measures 5 1/2 "x 3". Condition is near perfect. Small round test mark inside case. This item cannot be shipped outside the US. A lovely early 20th century Imperial Russian wooden Easter egg with polychrome decoration of a young peasant couple engaged in a kiss. The image is very sweet and nicely detailed. The back side of the egg bears the gilt letters “XB” for “Christ is Risen.” Careful examination of the drill holes in the egg show even oxidation of unpainted surfaces and the paint has typical aligatoring, supporting a very late 19th or early 20th century age...
A difficult wood with which to work, ebony is also an exceedingly attractive one as this hand carved crocodile attests with its exotic and realistic hide. Bone teeth and eyes complete the sculpture. These figures date from the early to mid 20th C, possibly of Indian origin, and are frequently found with lost eyes and teeth, making this one a choice specimen.

This is a very detailed sculpture of a deity standing on top of an elephant who stands on a ball. This is a very unique sculpture in excellent condition. Notice the impressive details all over this piece, including the feet, the design on the deity's dress and the details of the pearls. A trinket box made from Bog Oak - a partially fossilized wood formed as a result of immersion in Irish peat bogs for approximately 5000 years. The wood has been turned and finely carved with Shamrock leaves and a central Trinity Harp and was made in Ireland in the second half of the 19th Century during the reign of Queen Victoria.
