An antique Japanese Meiji period solid silver picture frame circa 1880-1900. This antique 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" frame has a bamboo pattern with a patterned ground; it has a textured snakeskin design paper over wood backing that originally had a support foot for standing up the frame. Old Counsellor cigar box, altered by hand, painted black, fitted with red felt interior compartments to hold jewelry, the lid carved and painted in a Deco design. The box measures 8 3/4" by 6 1/4" by 2 3/4". On the bottom one can see under the paint the original incised declarations of authenticity of the cigars, including notary public seal from Ulster County, New York, and other information that is difficult to decipher...
