Sculpture of Navajo woman weaving a rug on a loom. Woman is wearing native clothing with a mustard colored long dress, "silver" and "turquoise" belt, squash necklace, and buttons. A PAIR of antique prints of Plains Indians, likely from the 1841 edition of "Letters and Notes on the Manners, Customs and Condition of the North American Indians", Catlin's iconic book on the subject. The prints were printed by Tosswill and Myers of London in that year as illustrations in that work. Measurements are 7 1/4" by 5 1/4" inside the mats and 14" by 11 1/2" in modern strip frames. These prints are HAND COLORED, unlike many from the 1870's and 1920's which were printed in color.

A watercolor mixed media (some pencil and perhaps gouache) painting of a weathered Native American or other classic male image of the Southwest, signed at lower left "J W Kolstad". The piece measures 10 1/2" by 10 1/2" inside the black mat and 18" by 17" as framed. Reminiscent of some works by Remington or Lon Megargee, this is a very satisfying southwestern piece. Condition is excellent. The date of execution would likely be 1960's or 1970's.
