A finely carved Chinese agate in the form of a popular motif often seen in Tibet which is the windhorse. The use of Tibetan motifs in Chinese arts began during the Ming dynasty with patronage of the Tibetan high lamas and continued onwards into the Qing Dynasty. The windhorse is carrying a pecha or sutra text, a signature motif often found on windhorses. The stylized ribbons and the waves are done in the Chinese style. Large Chinese jade (nephrite) ceremonial piece, in the style of the Liangzhu period (3400-2250 BC), with carvings of faces. This nephrite piece is solid and has a pointed tip, and dpierced hole through its very top. The carvings around its edges look like eyes and may be related to the taotie (roughly "gluttonous ogre mask") motif, which were essentially symmetrical zoomorphic faces with no lower jaw, thought by scholars to be linked to religious ceremony and the afterlife...

Finely crafted Chinese shoushan carving of a Guanyin, standing and holding a scepter with right hand, by her feet is a boy in standing position and a Dragon by her left side, early to mid 20th century period, 8 inches in height, condition consistent with age with damage to the right side of base, no damages to the figures.
