A stand made of a fine piece of heavy, cypress wood emulating a rock. The top with a flat, smooth area on which to place items for contemplation or small ikebana arrangements. H 11 x L 24 cm. Japan or China, most probably from around 1920. Condition: Excellent with a wonderful patina.

Japanese cloisonne small vase with blooming roses. There is a fully bloomed red rose and a small budding red rose. Along the base, there is a blooming white rose with pink edged petals. The body of the vase is a cool white. Taisho period, early 20th century. It measures 1.75" base diameter, 4" widest, 5" tall. Good condition.

Important pair of Taisho Period c. 1921 bronze zen buddhist temple lamps with lacquered wood stands. Inscribed on lamps is date and village of temple. Stands are older from Meiji Period C.1890. The delicate ladies in waiting Japanese hina dolls for the Japanese Girl's Days in February. They are extremely beautiful with delicately detailed gofun (crushed shell with paste) faces and hands. The photos could not caputured it. Their face, hair, hands and costumes are superior to many other "Jyokan" dolls, obviously the work of first rated Kyoto made dolls. The standing dolls are 8 7/8" tall. One of the sleeves on the standing doll is soiled (enlargement 8)...
