Unusually large ca.1935 iron tea pot made for the hearth 'irori' in old japanese minka farmhouses. Unlike many of the pieces in the genre of Kyo-ware, this tea bowl is decidedly demure in appearance. Milky, flowing glaze pools in places along a backdrop of ivory and coral pink sides, contrasting nicely with the rough, unrefined clay of the base. In the center of the kodai is a decorative swirl pattern reminiscent of the yin and yang.

Flower basket as old Japanese ikebana vase made of wildly but refinedly woven two different type (condition) of bamboo attached with natural wood handle, early 20th century, approx. H 46 x 23 x 19 cm (18.11 x 9.05 x 7.48in). The bottom is holed as seen so that needs to prepare inner container when use of fresh flower arrangement. Just once briefly cleaned in general for not disturbing its original patina so that slightly stained when touch.

Vintage Japanese cylindrical form stoneware lidded mizusashi (water vessel for the tea ceremony) with horizontal ribs covered in a light creamy tan colored glaze with dripped patterning that stops short of the flat foot and recessed base. The interior and underside of the lid are coated in a glossy brown glaze. 20th century. Stands about 6 5/8" high. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. This piece is from a Tucson, AZ estate.

Incense box of irregular circular shape. Over a light gray clay thickly applied opaque, lightly crackled glaze with feldspar that leaves bare a few small areas uncovered, which colored orange red during firing. On the cover a few circular black-brown underglaze "brush strokes".
Although bottom and cover clearly match, they do not make an airtight close line, but leave a couple of gaps. Few very short firing cracks.

Small-size chagama, kettle to boil water for the tea ceremony. Tapering body made of cast iron with slightly raised relief décor of a dragon winding its body between stylized clouds and in the rain around the kettle while holding high a sacred, flaming jewel in one of its claws. On opposite sides a little monster head that serves as hook-up for the forged iron kantsuki rings.

A well potted Kuro Raku Chawan Black Raku Tea Bowl. The bowl is hand shaped, covered in black glaze with a few small areas in which the cream colour clay shows through. It rest very well in the hands! Raku mark impressed to the bottom. H 8 x 12 cm. Perfect condition.

This lovely Bizen ware is called Kogo / incense container used for Japanese tea ceremony. The shape is a seed of wisteria suitable for tea ceremony in autumn / winter. A fine Japanese lid rest or futaoki as it is known in the tea ceremony. The lid rest is done in a technique known as karakane or bronze and has been hammered. The tachizuru or motif of standing cranes is often seen in various tea accessories representing the rise of auspiciousness. The lid rest comes with a tomobako with the name of the lid rest and the artist, Seishu. Age: Late Showa Period Size: diameter 2.1" height 2.1"

Japanese miniature black Raku Tea Bowl or Chawan in signed wooden box, Ca. 1980, the tea bowl measures 1 3/8" high, 2 1/8" diameter-top rim, impressed mark "Raku near the bottom and also top and inside the box, enclosed the paper information of the area of the kiln and how they made.
