Abstract print by well-known Japanese print artist Masao Ohba (born 1928). He won first prize in 1998 at the 17th Biennale of Contemporary Ex Libris in Malbork, Poland. His work is colorful with interesting textures. This particular print almost appears to be an abstract take on the Japanese flag, with interesting shapes and flecking of red, yellow, and blue peeking through black sections. circa 1950s, signed and marked "87/150"

A wood suzuri-bako (ink stone box or writing box) which has layers of colors of urushi inside. It has a memo that it belonged to a noted Japanese painter, however it is not proven. The first half of the 20th century. It has some hair lines and cracks in the painting. 17cm x 27cm x 4.8cm
Artist: Uchima (Aohara) Toshiko (1918-2000). Aohara would marry the renowned artist Ansei Uchima.

The composition of this print is reminiscent of the Fuji views of Tsuchiya Koitsu.
