Chinese cloisonne horse decorated with archaic geometric designs often seen in Chinese bronzes from the Republic period with motifs of chrysanthemums and phoenixes. The saddle is decorated with a scrolling vine design with chrysanthemums recalling central Asian motifs. The bridle is decorated with small plum blossoms. Age: 20th century. A four panel shoji screen decorated with carvings of cranes, pine, and bamboo framed in a black lacquered frame. The screen is often seen on the side of a Japanese alcove so that the light during the day can shine in and illuminate the alcove while protecting the piece decorating the alcove. This is an outstanding 19th century Chinese Export enamel cloisonne round-form planter with floral decoration on a turquoise ground standing on three brass feet; rich coloration. Measures 8.75 opening x 4 in. tall. Cloisonne and enamel near perfect, wear to enamel inside. This planter does have three feet although the angle of photo obscures one of the them.

Beautifully carved Green Spinach Jade Chinese Boulder with landscape scenes of mountainous village with go players and bamboo groves, peaked rooflines and finely written calligraphy poetry on two surfaces on an interesting wooden reticulated branch base. The view is referring to the seven sages of the bamboo grove, where noted scholars gathered in doing literati activities. Size: 8.25" height (11" w/stand), 11.25" length (13.5" w/stand)

Sweet molds, “kashigata,” have been a part of confectionary culture around the world. Well-known examples in Asia come from Japan, China, Korea, and Indonesia. In Europe; countries such as Germany, Holland, and England have a rich history of cake mold production...

Kashigata (wooden sweet mold,) Take (bamboo) motif, Japan, early 20th C. L.7.375"(18.5cm) x W.4.375") x H.1.375"(3.5cm.) This mold features a bamboo stalk with two groupings of leaves, and the sweetmaker has written "sa-sa-ba" (bamboo leaves) on the side of the mold. Bamboo's resilient nature makes it a symbol of resilience in hard times and was a traditional symbol used for many celebratory occasions, such as births and weddings...
