An attractive pair of porcelain joss stick holders, enamelled 'on biscuit', depicting two 'buddhistic' guardian lions. These items were made, circa 1800, during the reign of the Jiaqing emperor (1796 - 1820) for export and for the domestic market. One has a small piece of decoration missing above the right ear and has enamel loss to the right eye brow. No further damages and no restoration. 9 inches (23cm) High.

A fine and very rare pair of monochrome rouleau shaped porcelain vases with apple green lustrous glaze; the base and interior are glazed white. There are old collector's labels to the base. These items were made in China, in the late 17th or early 18th Century, during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 13cm (5inches)high.

A very rare and unusual lotus form bowl on three lotus bud and seed pod feet very finely painted to the interior with vibrant Famille Rose enamels depicting bats and lotus amongst multiple sylized flower scrolls on a turquoise ground. This item was made in China during the reign of the Jiaqing Emperor (1796-1820) or late in the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795). Condition: excellent - no damages and no repairs or restoration. 7.8cm (3 inches) high; 21cm (8.3 inches) across.

清乾隆嘉庆(18/19世纪) 松石绿地粉彩“莲叶”碗
碗身莲叶形,三个莲花苞和一个莲蓬组成碗的四足。内部粉彩饰缠枝莲花和蝙蝠纹,寓意福气连连。
应为清嘉庆年间所做,但亦可能为清乾隆末年作品。

A very rare under glaze blue decorated porcelain bowl, decorated on the outside with a stylized Japanese Honeysuckle pattern in the Doucai manner with 'dovetailed' over glaze green, iron red and yellow enamels.

This item was made in China, in the first half of the 19th Century, in the Imperial kilns, for the court of the Daoguang emperor (1821-1850).

There is another another Daoguang example illustrated in "Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing from the Kwan Collection"published 1983 by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, page 58, fig. 27.For similarly decorated bowl, made for the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1735), see Lot 452 Sotheby's London 9 & 10 November 2005.

Condition: there are a number of small, mostly minute, inside rim chips (for the largest please view enlargement 6) and there is old surface wear; there are no cracks and there has been no restoration.

10.2 cm (4.1 inches) diameter. Provenance: formerly property of Lieutenant Colonel K. Vernon Jones of the Royal Army Medical Corps.

清道光 斗彩忍冬纹莲子碗

青花碗上绘有绿色、红色和黄色釉。碗底有六字篆书款“大清道光年制”。

类似的雍正时期瓷器,请参见苏富比2005年11月秋拍第452号拍品。另有类似瓷碗,可以参考香港中文大学1983年版《关氏所藏晚晴官窑瓷器》第58页,图27。

来源:皇家陆军医疗队K.弗农·琼斯中校的旧藏。

品相:碗内沿有极细微的磕碰(见图6),表面有因年久造成的磨损。没有裂痕,无修复。 直径10.2厘米。

A pair of porcelain vases, each with globular body and tall cylindrical neck, covered with an even, dark, slightly iridescent apple-green crackled glaze. One of the vases has a white foot rim and is white deep inside; the other is "burned" (iron oxide) orange on the foot rim and inside. These items were made in China, in the mid Qing dynasty, during either the late 18th or early 19th Century.

The collector's labels on the bases carry the name W.A. Stewart who is recorded as having worked for the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank. These vases were purchased in a UK auction in 2003.

Condition - excellent - there are some surface scratches but there are no damages and there has been no restoration.

清中期 18世纪末或19世纪苹果绿蟹爪纹天球瓶一对 苹果绿蟹爪纹天球瓶一对,釉面稍泛蛤蜊光。其中一只圈足和瓶内为白色;另一只圈足和瓶内为铁锈斑色。此对天球瓶作于清中期,约18或19世纪。

瓶底有先前藏家W.A. Stewart的标签,据记载,W.A. Stewart曾就职于香港上海汇丰银行。我们于2003年在英国购得这对瓷瓶。

A rare 'ogee-shaped' bowl finely decorated in Chinese taste with four Chilong dragons amongst scrolling lotus foliage in Wucai enamels on the outside. The interior is decorated in typical early 18th Century 'Famille Verte' export style with Lotus, Chrysanthemum and Peony flowers and Buddhistic Emblems. This item was made during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662 - 1722). Condition - there is a European made protective metal rim; there is a chip to the rim and two associated 1cm and 2cm hairlines (please see enlargement 7). There has been no restoration. 7cm (2.5 inches) high; 21cm (8.25 inches) diameter.

A porcelain plate painted in shades of under glaze cobalt blue, in traditional Chinese taste, depicting two ducks swimming on a pond swimming on a pond surrounded with aquatic plants. On the base is a six character reign mark of the Kangxi emperor within a double circle which reads "Da Qing Kangxi Nian Zhi" ("Great Qing Kangxi Year Made). This plate was made in the late 17th Century, circa 1690, during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). Unusually for a 'Mark and Period' piece this plate is a European shape and was probably made for export. A similar plate is to be found in the 1997 catalogue of S. Marchant & Son, Kensington Church Street, London W8. Condition: Excellent - no damages and no restoration 21cm (8.25 inches) diameter. A large heavy bottle vase depicting two confronting five clawed dragons amongst clouds and flames and above breaking waves. The base carries the six character seal mark of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795)but possibly made later during the 19th Century. It arrived in the UK before 1910 and is from an old West Country estate. Condition - the neck has been reduced and polished. There are no chips or cracks and there has been no restoration but there are surface scratches. Height 23cm (9 inches); 24cm (9.5 inches) wide. Weight 2.6 kg (5.73lb).

A larger than average ovoid jar (without cover) profusely decorated with Famille Rose enamels depicting stylized lotus scrolls enclosing two large panels and two small peach shaped panels. The panels are painted with peony, lotus and other flowers; one panel depicts an egret amongst water plants. This item was made in China in the late 18th or early 19th Century, circa 1790-1820 during the Qianlong or Jiaqing reign. Condition - there is wear and some losses to the enamels but there are no chips, no cracks and there has been no restoration. 26.5cm (10.3inches) high.

A rare 'Famille Noir' Chinese porcelain hat stand depicting five white four clawed dragons in flight over breaking waves amongst stylized clouds and flames on a black enamel background. The base carries an iron red seal mark of the the Tongzhi emperor (1862-1874) and was possibly made during his reign.

Condition: there are glaze losses to the enamels particularly on the vertical edges. There is a crack running from the rim to one of the ear cup shaped apertures. There have been no repairs or restoration.

27 cm / 10.6 inches high 12.2 cm / 4.75 inches across

A six-sided porcelain wine pot warmer painted in Qianjiang style with a scene on one side from a Chinese opera relating to stories from the Three Kingdoms period. On the other side is a poem which we have, as yet, been unable to read. It is signed and dated to 1903. A small thinly potted wine or tea cup delicately painted in shades of underglaze blue with traditional Chinese landscape scenes. The cup is bound with a metal (copper) rim, apparently made to cover a burst glaze bubble. On the base is a four character shop mark which reads "Shun Li Kun Ji". The makers mark was in use during the late Qing / early Republic period so we assume that this item was made during the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition - very good - no damages and no restoration. 5cm (2inches) high; 6.5cm (2.5inches) diameter.

一件清华庭院人物酒杯,胎体轻薄。口沿有一圈金属圈镶边,应是为遮掩口沿的一处爆釉。底有青花四字款“顺利坤记”,此款为清末民初的厂店款,所以我们认为此件应为19世纪末20世纪初所做。
品相:很好。无损伤,无修复。高5厘米,直径6.5厘米。
