Pair of Twin Circular Screens made from Translucent Jade, with applied Black Jade, White Jade, Nephrite Jade, Agate, Carnelian, Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Coral and more, carved into multiple compositions of flowering plants on rock formations with hovering butterflies. The carved circular Jade Disks rest on carved wood stands. Each carved jade disk measures 12 inches.

This is an original Antique (Pre-1900 / 1900) Gadget (Sword) Cane, with a Carved Horse Head Handle made from Stag Angler, with a long ( 3 1/2 inches) carved bone collar that displays a superb natural old patina, and a wooden scabbard/shaft that measures 30 inches. The collar and handle appear sealed as one piece. Protruding from the collar is a four-sided Sword blade made from steel and measuring 25 inches. The hollow (scabbard) shaft of the cane is as deep as the length of the blade, and it has a brass four-sided guide. The cane shaft, which shows signs of use, ends with a brass and steel ferrule.

This is an original Antique (Pre-1900 / 1900) Gadget (Sword ) Cane, with a Carved Ball with the faces of a young and an elder Chinese men, as well as some Graphic Symbols made from Bone. The ball has a handle extension that measures 16cm. and it is composed of a bone (1.5cm), Double Brass (2. 75cm each) and wooden (9cm) collars. The bone portions of the handle display a superb natural old patina. It has a wooden scabbard/shaft with a square cavity that measures 29 inches. The ball and collar handle appear sealed as one piece. Protruding from the collar is a four-sided pointed Sword blade made from steel and measuring 18.5 inches. The hollow (scabbard) shaft of the cane is as deep as two thirds the length of the blade, and it has a brass four-sided guide. The cane shaft, which appears in excellent condition, ends with a brass and steel ferrule.

This is an Amygdaloidal Basalt, heavy, but well hollowed, of flattened globular shape with a short broad cylindrical neck, and an oval recessed foot. Engraved with lion masks to both shoulders. The background is dark gray, almost black, and the attractive mineral inclusions of various shapes are light brown, light blue, gray, green, light green and some shades of rosette. Some of the various shape forms have various colors inside. Beginning at its shoulders there are carvings of this large faux masks, that occupy more than half of its length down to the bottom of the bottle, that its not apparent when you look at the bottle from afar. It comes with a like material stopper that shows similar colors and shape forms as the bottle. This very fine bottle is in excellent preserved condition.

19th Century Japanese Boxwood Netsuke: Professional Sneezer

19th Century, finely hand-carved Wood Netsuke depicting a Professional Sneezer, sitting cross-legged, and holding a bone nose-ticking stick or poker.

According to Dr. Karl Schwarz, in his book "Netsuke Subjects', "in old Japan, a curious type of beggar who sat by the wayside, for a small sum of money he inserted a feather or a small pointed stick inside his nose causing him to sneeze violently and often, wishing his client good health and long life."

Well-rendered carving of a popular personality in Japanese culture, beautifully well-preserved.

This is a well-hollowed, Flattened, Rectangular with rounded shoulders tapering towards base, with long rounded neck , with a raised splayed oval recessed footing, snuff bottle. It is made from deep green with black vertical bands malachite. It is carved, in high relief, with a scene of birds in a pond amid lotus plants. It comes with a like material stopper.

This is fine example of a white nephrite jade Thumb Archer's Ring, with a Taotie theme: symbols and figures carved in high relief all around the surface of the ring. It was apparently used to some extent because it shows a few very small impact scars on its edges, as well a hairline crack on its outside surface, but it is in solid condition, with well defined carved symbols . Other similar examples date to the Chinese Qing period.

Greatly preserved original condition.

Chinese Carved Apple Green Jadeite Jade Snuff Bottle

This is a Well-hollowed, Flattened, Circular form translucent Apple Green Jadeite Snuff Bottle with a flared neck, flat lip, wide mouth, recessed, slightly convex foot, and flattened foot rim; the sides carved with two crouching mice that are shown with their tails swung along the front and reverse sides of the bottle. It comes with a like material stopper. Most likely made during the Qianlong Period of Japan.

Excellently preserved original condition.

FAMILLE ROSE, Molded Enameled Porcelain Snuff Bottle, Guangxu Mark, 1874-1908

This is a fine Famille Rose Figural Molded Porcelain Snuff Bottle, of Bulbous Rectangular with rounded shoulders, with a rounded neck decorated with a Leiwen border, a rounded form green lip, and a raised rounded rectangular base. The body of the bottle crisply molded with colorful 'Hundred Antiques' objects, such as: brush holder, seal, scrolls, peacock plumes, bronze mirror, dish of flowers, rare vase, brona wine pot, recumbent silkworms, palm leaf, scepter, coins, and others. There is an incised Guangxu (1874-1908) seal script Mark in fading iron red letters to the base. It comes with an orange coral stopper.

This vivibly colorful bottle is in remarkable preserved condition.

19th C. Japanese Boxwood Netsuke: TANUKI NO HARA TSUZUMI,

Signed Juzan (ishikawa Komei) This is a finely carved boxwood netsuke depicting Tanuki, seated, wearing a kimono, with a striker on his right hand, getting ready to beat his hairy distended scrotum that is resting on a cushion as if it were a mokugyo. Very skillfully done miniature sculpture that is signed Juzan within an oval reserve on the bottom of the netsuke. The cord holes (himotoshi) are lined up with natural material.

Juzan, is a go used by Ishikawa Komei (1852 - 1913), a pupil of Masamitsu, considered the finest carving artist of the Meiji Period. He studied the painting of Kano Sosen, and became the first professor of art at the Tokyo Academy of Arts. He was later appointed artist to the Imperial court.

Netsuke measures 0.90 inches (2.3cm) wide, 1.46 inches (3.7cm) long, and 1.28 inches (3.2cm) tall. It is in excellent preserved condition, as may be seen in the posted photos.

A Gorgeous Pair of of Royal Worcester Dorothy Doughty Birds, Chickadees & Larch, 9 1/2 -Inch - Edition completed in 1938, as shown in Plate 13 (see photos #7 & 8) of the Limited edition (1500 copies) of the book ' The American Birds of Dorothy Doughty, by George Savage.

Excellently preserved original condition.

Dorothy Doughty

Dorothy Doughty was born in San Remo, Italy in 1892. Her father was the explorer and poet,Charles Doughty. Dorothy studied at Eastbourne School of Art and became a keen naturalist and ornithologist. In 1933 the American publisher, Alex Dickens, encouraged Royal Worcester to make large, bone china models of birds to sell in limited numbers. Dorothy Doughty designed a series of birds for the American market working from the studio in Cornwall, which she shared with her sister, Freda. Dorothy had never worked in clay before, but was determined to make the birds as life-like as possible.

Thirty-six pairs and three individual models of American Birds were designed between 1933 and 1960. A full account of the production of the birds is given in the book by George Savage, The American Birds of Dorothy Doughty, which was published by Royal Worcester as a limited edition of 1500 copies in 1962.

This is a 19th century made bottle of a thick Bulbous rectangular form with rounded edges, thick straight neck, wide lips and mouth, and recessed oval footing. The well-hollowed bottle has been made in imitation of Realgar, with its mottled shades of red and orange in erratic nebulous forms. Its form was commonly used in the 19th century, and its illustrated in the 'Collector's Bood of Snuff Bottles', item #165, page 65. It comes with a blue aventurine stopper with metal collar. It is in excellent preserved condition. This is a finely carved Celadon Jade figure of a Boy holding a Lotus Leaf Branch. It is a mostly of natural celadon color with a small patch of russet color in the back, near the waistline. This excellent rendition of a traditionally groomed 18th Century Boy is in excellent preserved condition. Provenance: Bonham's The Celadon Jade Boy here is similar to one being auctioned by Zacke Galleries, Vienna, Austria, on 11 March 2022, with an estimated cost of 2,000 to 4,000 Euros.
