Once again Abe Anjin has lived up to our expectations in this Mount Fuji sake cup with his most sought after style of saishoku colors. It comes wrapped with the original stamped wrapping cloth enclosed in the original wooden box titled Saishoku Bizen Shuki and in turn enclosed in a black lacquered wooden box also stamped by the artist...

This very liquid form seems already imbibed with rice wine, the base stable while the sides tilt slightly, sagging on the stool, a superb work by Abe Anjin. It comes wrapped with the original stamped wrapping cloth enclosed in the original wooden box titled Bizen Shuki and in turn enclosed in a black lacquered wooden box also stamped by the artist. Obviously, he felt this was deserved of greatness...

This cups is reminiscent of a colorfully striped Nishijin-ori Kimono, blue red green and yellow on a base color of hemp. The rim rises and falls in a rhythmic dance aong the broad shoulder. Kakurezaki Ryuichi is one of the most well known of Bizen potters, he is interestingly originally not from Bizen but far off Nagasaki, which seems to have gifted him with the ability to see the clays potential beyond conventional form. He graduated the Osaka University of Fine Arts, then enjoyed a long apprenticeship under Bizen Living National Treasure Isezaki Jun before opening his own kiln in 1986...

Golden Camellia blossom all bout theoutside of this lovely wan-gata Chawan by the famous female artist Ono Hakuko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kinrande Chawan.  The pattern is created by applying gold foil to the surface before firing.  Here she has cut the gold foil into patterns of camellia blossoms, and applied them over red glaze to great effect. An unusual chawan draped with blue over leopard-skin like some Osaka Obachan on a Friday night romp by Takiguchi Kazuo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The apple shaped form is pleasant on the hands, not heavy or unruly. A large drip had sagged off the side, affixing itself to the kiln floor, where it has been cut off. A bowl very much in this artists avant-garde spirit.

A deep bowl decorates with an assortment of colors in dashes, dots and draperies by Kawabata Kentaro enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled simply Chawan. Two amazing sake cups by Yamada Kazu enclosed in the original signed wooden boxes titled Enbu Shino Guinomi and Kuro(black)Enbu Shino . Enbu means"dancing fire" and it is that dancing fire that pushed the clay and glaze of this works to the very limit where the glaze turned to molten glass and began to flow like lava down the sides and into the interior.
