An early and sizable bronze mortar, Flemish / dated 1617!
Very attractive European renaissance mortar that comes with a pestle from the period. The mortar of the typical flemish design with the conical vessel, two zoomorphic handles and a wide rim. The mortar is finely decorated with archantus leafs and inscribed along the rim with LOF GODT VAN AL, AO 1617.
Size: 14,5 cm. wide over the rim, 12,8 cm. tall and the pestle is 23 cm. long. The combined weight about 3,6 kilograms.
