Tall Oribe style bottle vase which was thrown round and paddled square with a texture about the surface and a band of black and white herringbone design near the top. The bottom shows where the wads were ground off and this area is smooth to the touch.

Large and bold yakishime wood fired chawan by Konno Haruo with crisp facets and a wide array of ash effects enveloping the bowl. The exterior is painted with wet and drier ash with the rear having a reddish, purple that accentuates the facets and makes them come to life. The interior and lip are covered in a wet ash that has a wonderful depth and at times you expect the ash to pour out of the chawan as if it were liquid...

This fiercely medieval style tokkuri was made by Echizen standout Nishiura Takeshi (b.1941) and in form and surface it is everything that classic modern Echizen is about. Using indigenous Echizen clay, local woods and firing a distinctly traditional Echizen kiln, Nishiura creates works that are in direct lineage back to the medieval times while adding his own voice to both form and surface...

Large, totemic Shigaraki vase by veteran master craftsman, Tani Seiuemon I. This impressive and well fired Shigaraki hanaire was thrown in two sections and joined to create the vase and foot of this pot made out of wonderful kinose clay from the region.

This vase measures 12.75" x 5" and is in perfect, original condition with tea cloth and original signed box.

Fine kutsu-gata hakeme chawan with flourishes of iron over the slip and under the clear, blue tinged ash glaze. The bowl is broad and fits well in the hand and has a crisp, well cut kodai that compliments the form and clay. Made by Goto Tetsu (Satoshi) who lives and works in Echizen (Fukui Pref.) at the Tsubaki-gama, he has spent a lifetime working within the Korean idiom combining Echizen and Karatsu pottery especially the gohonde and hakeme styles...

Large, oburi style Shiro-Hagi chawan with notched wari-kodai and profuse crackling around the bowl. I have no idea who made this large chawan as I can not read the seal, partially covered with glaze.

The are a few small spots of glaze loss as can be seen in the pictures, but all in all, this is a very handsome and strong chawan that looks great on a shelf. No box.

Large waisted form teabowl with hakeme slip decoration under a clear and iron yellow glaze. Where the iron glaze ends, the glaze has run into the clear glaze forming very decorative tendrils reminiscent of Japanese ferns.
