This bold Momoyama Yashichida-Oribe style chawan is by undisputed master potter; Suzuki Goro. This chawan is decorated in a playful array of traditional Oribe designs worked in a very modern tone with shades of iron black, green and coral set on a creamy ground and glazed over in a clear glaze with the panel surrounded by charcoal black under a satin feldspathic glaze...

Generous Hagi chawan with a variety of colors infused within the white based glaze on a rich iron clay body by veteran potter, Udagawa Seikoku. This chawan is in great condition, measures 12.5 x 9cm and comes complete with its original signed wood box.

(I am keeping the description brief in an effort to get these put up in a timely fashion.)

This large henko, molded bottle is by forth generation Otani-gama kiln master; Yano Shinichi. This henko comes with signed box and is in excellent condition.

The vase measures 5.25" X 5.25" X 10.25" but the measurements alone do not adequately present the volume and mass of this piece...

Classic devil's bucket style Shigaraki mizusashi by veteran master craftsman, Tani Seiuemon I. This impressive and well fired Shigaraki mizusashi was thrown and has a rich surface and a lid that sits well on the turned in mouth. Fired in an anagama wood fired kiln for nearly a week, the resulting effects paint the surface with deposits of natural ash some of which turn to glass across the surface...

Fine Shigaraki chawan by Kon Chiharu. Kon Chiharu apprenticed with the legendary master potter Tsuji Seimei and his work and firing is broadly reminescent of the masters work. Kon fires an anagama type kiln in Niigata but his works are decidedly Shigaraki in tradition and effect. His chawan start at 140,000 yen and can fetch up to 220,000 yen.

This chawan is enclosed in it's original box and is in excellent, unused condition...

Narrated DVD about Mashiko artist potter, Matsuzaki Ken. This DVD features the preparation of clay, hand building, coil building, throwing, throwing chawan, glazing and firing by Ken at his studio and wood fired kiln.

Matsuzaki Ken is internationally recognized for his unique synthesis of what he was taught from Shimaoka Tatsuzo and by proxy from Hamada Shoji and his own blend of these styles together with his view of Shino, yohen, Oribe and various other styles...

Rich, almost volcanic deep red Shino chawan by multi-talented potter, Matsuzaki Ken. This large chawan has a tremendous amount of character and movement with a surface that resembles the Enbu work of Yamada Kazu though made before it was premiered. The thick, unctuous surface has a wonderful feel in the hand and is potently juxtaposed against the crimson red of the base glaze...
