This rare Ido chawan is glazed in a milky ash, Hagi style glaze and was presumably made at the kiln of the Tenryu-ji temple (Kyoto-yaki) as it bares the seal of the kiln. The clay was made using ground roof tile, a piece brought back from China which is explained in the accompanying paperwork provided with the chawan...

Classical chawan in the Kuro-Bizen style by the late master potter, Isezaki Mitsuru. This chawan exhibits a blackened, charcol fired exterior with ash sprinkled about the face and covering the interior floor of the bowl. the foot is exceptionally well cut and very crisp and his mark is prominently featured in the interior of the foot ring.

This chawan is in good, original condition, measures 5.25" x 3.4" and comes complete with its original signed box.

This large and rather colorful kohiki chawan was made by Ogawa Tetsuo a specialist in slips and Korean slipware of which this pot is a classic example. The surface of the teabowl shows off a wide array of colors and visual textures with areas of gohonde fawn spots and a translucent, waxy ash glaze coving the pot. The richness of the surface makes this a rather stunning piece by Ogawa with much more activity than seen in many of his teabowls...

Robust, large Shino vase of round form with areas of poured underglaze iron slip creating areas of Aka-Shino (iron red) and Muji-Shino (white)across the piece. This vase was made by the well respected and exhibited Kato Shuntei (1927-1995) who was a true Mino traditional potter.

Serene and noble seihakuji koro by veteran and master potter Kishimoto Kennin. Published in an exhibition catalogue for a Takashimiya show (a xerox of the relevant pages are included) this seihakuji celadon koro is a classic example of Kishimoto's style and modernization of a traditional form. This koro is in excellent condition except one of the wing-like appendages was unfortunately damaged and has been repaired, please see the attached photo showing both sides of the area in question...
