This rare Ido chawan is glazed in a milky ash, Hagi style glaze and was presumably made at the kiln of the Tenryu-ji temple (Kyoto-yaki) as it bares the seal of the kiln. This large Haku En-Yu, white salt fired, chawan is by Kyoto master potter; Iwabuchi Shigeya (1925-1993). This soft white chawan has very subtle undertones of a pink blush over its surface and is covered with a series of crazed and crackled salt glaze deposited on the white slipped surface of the bowl. The generous bowl shape is reminiscent of older Hagi and even Korean chawan and is terminated with an exceptional bamboo node formed foot...

An extremely well fired Iga chawan by Shigaraki and Iga potter; Furutani Kazuya. This medieval styled chawan has a pleasant cylindrical form with areas of running ash, dusted ash and hi-iro along with clamshell impressions from where the bowl rested while being fired. Powerful, dramatic, enigmatic, there is a nearly unending number of descriptions that would still all fall short in describing this large Enbu-Shino chawan by Yamada Kazu. Enbu literally means "dancing fire" and it is that dancing fire that pushed the clay and glaze of this chawan to the very limit where the glaze turned to molten glass and began to flow like lava down the sides and into the interior of this pot...

At nearly a foot tall and in perpetual motion, this modern spiral vase was made by the late kato Yasukage XIV circa 2008. Tall and imposing the spiraled surface is glazed in a rich Shino glaze that shows off a wide array of textures and color variations from pure white, blushed pink hues and rich iron red circling the base of the pot. Large feudal style Shigaraki mizusashi by veteran potter; Ogawa Seiho. Fired in an anagama, there is rich ash deposits and hi-iro around the pot. This mizusashi is timeless with vintage style tsuchi-aji, clay flavor making for a wonderful and contemplative keshiki landscape.

The mizusashi measures 25 x 16 cm. and is in excellent original condition and comes with a custom made roiro black lacquer lid and its original signed box.

Large classical Oni-Shino chawan by Kajiura Soshu (b. 1916). Showing a wide array of surface variations including a thick Shino together with large areas of an iron red glaze with the face of the bowl being covered in deposited ash from an intense wood firing. The interior has wonderful luminescent iron together with areas of Shino cells and and also has a ground down clamshell where something was stood inside the chawan during the firing, a common occurrence in this style of pottery. ...

A very large (oburi) and powerful Shino chawan by Miyamura Yoshinobu very reminiscent of Hayashi Shotaro's works. Thick splashes of pure white Shino glaze punctuate the rusty red Aka-Shino glaze which covers the entire teabowl.

This chawan measures 5.4" X 4" and is in perfect condition and comes with it's signed box.

This classic mizusashi has everything one could want from Karatsu; a timeless form, a perfect nuka surface and exceptional E-Garatsu style iron underglaze painting by a master potter and arguably the greatest living Karatsu artist. This pot could easily be a 17th century piece though the unmistakable mark of a master 20th century potter is ever present...

Classical Iga vase by noted master Japanese potter; Kishimoto Kennin (b.1934). This vase, based on Momoyama and early Edo Iga archetypes, has varying hues of natural green ash about the top portion of the vase which also cascades down the side and forms wonderful bidoro rings around the mouth and shoulder.
