The top of this sterling silver modernist ring appears to be made of hand-cast drip-like elements that are incised and polished. It is attached to the flattened band on a short pedestal so that the top rises about 3/16 of an inch about the band. The inside of the band is marked Handmade Sterling and bears the impressed mark of G:son Liedholm, which may indicate Magnus Liedholm, a Swedish maker. The ring is sized at 7 1/4. Weight: 9.6 grams

A thoughtful design with a sense of movement distinguishes this sterling ring, set with what is likely a tourmaline cabochon. The band is composed of two strands of hammered silver that gracefully curl around the finger. The strands also curl around the bezel mounting, which holds the untreated sugarloaf-shape stone. It is marked sterling. The stone and mounting rise to just under 1/4 inch; the ring is sized at a 6 scant.

These handmade sterling silver earrings have a quirky all-over pierced design resembling antennae. The piercings decorate curled triangular elements that are secured by clip backs. The backs of the earrings are impressed ‘sterling,’ next to which the jeweler has engraved his own name, T. Ward, in capital letters. Each earring measures almost 1 ¼ inches long by 1 inch wide; one clip appears to have been applied crookedly, but it doesn’t affect the position on the ear. Weight: 8.5 grams total

A classic look from a well-known Italian designer. Made of scored, slightly twisted links, each link bisected by a textured bar. Bracelet has full set of marks, indicating a registration city of Arrezzo, Italy, and .800 silver content. This unusual bangle is very comfortable to wear — the shape of this sturdy bangle makes it easy to slide over the knuckles. The bangle was formed by bending a four-sided sterling silver rod into a square with rounded corners, joining the ends at the middle of one side. The bracelet bears the 925 mark for sterling as well as an unidentified maker’s mark, and dates around 1980. It measures about 8 inches around the inside, and 2 5/8 inches square. It fits nicely on a wrist measuring 6 ½ inches around at the wrist bone. Weight: 10.5 grams

A half-moon piece of agate in a molded sterling silver frame has colorations that give the impression of a mountain scene. It is strung between two chains with ribbed diamond-shaped elements. The back bears the mark of Great Falls Metal Works, a New Jersey firm that started in 1968. The necklace, from the 1970s or 1980s, measures about 19 ½ inches long; the pendant drops 1 3/8 inches.

The clean design of this ring focuses on two sterling straps that secure a rectangular bar of tiger’s eye. The stone is in very nice condition with no chips or visible scratches; a tiny bit of adhesive on the mount provides it some extra security. The ring, which dates most likely from the 1970s to early 1980s, is marked sterling inside the plain molded band. It is a size 6.

Formed as an arch with a central drop set with what could be polished obsidian. The stone has embedded diagonal bands of light brown, with an iridescent surface. There is a tiny chip to one edge; it is hardly noticeable and doesn’t affect the stability of the stone, which is quite secure. The back of the pendant is marked 925 on the bail, drop and arch; the arch also shows a London import mark, maker’s initials of ED, and the date letter for 1973. It comes with a sterling snake-link chain, made in Italy and probably a little older than the pendant.

This impressive necklace bears the mark of jewelry designer Jacob Hull and the firm Buch and Deichmann, of Bagsvaerd, Denmark (1969-1980). Hull worked primarily in high quality silverplate, producing innovative designs of fine workmanship. The necklace has some heft, and is composed of irregular-shaped dollops of plated molten metal flanked by oblong links. Unhooked, it measures 32 ¼ inches long. Weight: 65.9 grams

Composed of three thick strands of rope-like white metal chain, braided into one continuous strand. Very dramatic look, and the necklace is surprisingly comfortable to wear, considering its heft. It measures 1 inch wide, with a circumference of about 2 ½ inches; the necklace drops about 15 inches when worn.

This 1960s pendant is composed of what appears to be a very thickly molded pewter, roughly finished and suspended from a sturdy cable chain. The back of the pendant bears an unidentified maker’s mark of Å.A. Pendant measures 3 1/8 inches long by 2 5/8 inches wide. The entire necklace, including pendant and chain, drops almost 17 inches; it does not have a clasp.
