This Georg Jensen circle pin features a deeply molded twisted rope design that continues all the way around. The design is enhanced with simple, scored rectangular elements at the halfway points. The secure rollover clasp is also sterling and original to the pin. The back is marked with the Jensen and sterling marks, the design number of 254, and Denmark. The pin measures 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Weight: 9.7 grams

A thoughtful design with a sense of movement distinguishes this sterling ring, set with what is likely a tourmaline cabochon. The band is composed of two strands of hammered silver that gracefully curl around the finger. The strands also curl around the bezel mounting, which holds the untreated sugarloaf-shape stone. It is marked sterling. The stone and mounting rise to just under 1/4 inch; the ring is sized at a 6 scant.

This sterling silver necklace is composed of curved panels with recessed areas that divide each panel into three sections. The middle section remains silver; the outer sections have a copper and brass plating. The necklace is nicely made, with soldered links and a secure tongue–and-groove clasp. The back of one panel is marked with two circular Taxco sterling marks. The necklace measures about 17 1/2 inches long; it is a little over 1/4 inch wide. Gross weight: 54.9 grams

This delicate link bracelet features four oval cabochons, each prong-set in a decorative sterling frame. Sterling openwork panels, each set with a single marcasite, connect the frames. The ornate settings give the piece a more formal feel than Deco; possibly this dates later, perhaps the 1950s. The spring-ring clasp is secure, and is marked sterling; one of the connecting panels is also marked sterling on the back. The bracelet measures about 7¼ inches long by about 5/8 inch wide.

This ornate sterling silver disk pin, by Norwegian maker Ivar T. Holth, is gilded and features an intricate wirework design. It is applied to a scalloped disk of white guilloched enamel and dates from the 1960s-1970s. It appears to have been hardly worn, with a light tarnishing of the gilt that can be addressed with a cloth cleaning. There is a secure rollover clasp on the back as well as the marks for Norway, Holth and sterling. It measures 1 ¾ inches in diameter, and has a nice heft at 22.2 grams. Please note that the white enamel is actually a much brighter white than shown in the photos.

This .830 silver bracelet is made of five delicate, decorative chains that hang comfortably around the wrist. It is secured by a tongue-and-groove clasp that bears an unidentified maker’s mark of M.S. with a triangular mark, as well as the mark 830 S, possibly for Norway. The bracelet measures about 7 inches long and ¾ inch wide. Weight: 17.4 grams

Composed of geometrical open panels, this sterling silver bracelet is studded with tiny pieces of marcasite. It features a secure tongue and groove clasp and a sterling safety chain. There are seven marcasites missing, but it’s hard to tell without magnification because they are so small. The back of the clasp is marked sterling; there is also a sterling mark on the back of one panel along with a partial, unidentified maker’s mark. The bracelet opens to 3 1/2 inches across with the safety chain attached; it measures 8 1/2 inches long by 3/4 inch wide. The bracelet dates at least from the 1950s, and could be older. Gross weight: 38 grams

This sterling silver ring features a ‘taco’-like folded design with a zigzag band inside sitting on its edge. The inside of the folded piece has been deeply oxidized with a translucent finish. The ring exhibits various kinds of tool marks. The ring is possibly Norwegian, with a mark of 925S inside the band; there are also maker’s initials of JPC, possibly for Danish silversmith Jens Peter Clausen of Copenhagen (1973-1981). Weight: 9.3 grams

This sterling silver pendant has an arts and crafts feel. It features a central polished turquoise marbled with matrix that appears to be quite stable. It has an angular starburst design with a wide bail that bears a 925 mark as well as Hebrew markings. The .835 silver chain is not original to the piece, but is of the period. It is probably Austrian or Polish and measures 18 inches long unclasped. The pendant measures 1 ½ inches by 1 1/8 inches. Gross weight of pendant: 7.1 grams

This unusual sterling silver ring features a curved disc with applied molten strands of silver forming an organic dome. The inside of the disc exhibits a volcanic finish. The band is sturdy, and bears possibly a Danish mark of 925S, as well as an unidentified maker’s mark. The ring is a size 7. It measures 1 inch long, 1 inch wide, and about 1 1/8 inches high. The dramatic focus of this 1970s necklace is a pendant of applied molten sterling silver on a trapezoidal frame. It is set with small jade and onyx cabochons, as well as one moonstone bead. It is suspended from a handmade sterling neckring with a hook and button clasp. The pendant and neckring are marked sterling; there is no maker’s mark. The pendant measures 2 ¼ inches by 1 3/8 inches; the neckring measures about 18 inches around. Gross weight: approximately 52.5 grams

This Mexican sterling bracelet has a warrior-like feel, with its shield-like openwork panels. The domed centers are set with small black glass cabochons that could be obsidian. The tongue-and-groove clasp is very secure, and the connectors between the panels exhibit are well soldered. The bracelet bears the unidentified mark of VGV (per Bille Hougart’s book), as well as a sterling mark surrounded by a circular Hecho en Mexico. This sterling silver necklace of faces and fleur-de-lys has a European feel and is designed in the Renaissance Revival style most associated with Peruzzi. There is a roughness to the casting, but the lobed beads in between are nicely detailed. It has a twisted multi-link chain. The necklace measures a little over 16 inches long. Weight: 16.3 grams

Formed as a delicate spray of three flowers, this Coro sterling silver pin has an unusual design, unlike much of the company’s Sterling Craft line. The Sterling Craft pieces were hand-constructed, with an arts and crafts look; many had a Scandinavian influence, but this piece is quite naturalistic and more complex in construction. It measures about 3 ½ inches long by 2 inches wide by 1 inch deep. It has a secure rollover clasp. Weight: 18.6 grams

This unusual silver lariat necklace draws on its Nordic roots with a twisted, notched spike at each end in the Viking manner. It is quite a versatile design and a sophisticated look; the strands can be knotted or draped, worn long or doubled. The chain itself is composed of doubled links, each with two perpendicular rings. The chain has a yet-unidentified maker’s mark, with a Norwegian silver mark of 830S. From end to end, the necklace measures about 46 ¼ inches long, including the terminals. Weight: 18.8 grams

This handsome, handmade Italian sterling silver bracelet by Peruzzi is composed of linked openwork oval and round frames holding applied flowers and leaves. The flowers look to have been hand constructed, petal-by-petal. The hook clasp and safety chain are very secure; the inside of the bracelet bears the Peruzzi and sterling marks. The surface is highly tarnished, despite an attempt at cleaning; it can be brightened up a bit more. The bracelet measures a little over 7 ¼ inches long and about 5/8 inch wide. Weight: 15.2 grams

This lovely American sterling silver and enamel cross exhibits an elaborately scrolled edge and vibrant green enamel. The cross and chain date from at least c. 1915 but could be older. The chain is original and made of flattened, rectangular links; there is no clasp. It tests definitively for silver. The enamel decoration on the cross is intact, and bears the usual minor flaws of handwork. The cross is quite sturdy, and nicely molded, though there are two casting flaws at the lower right (see photo #6). The ring at the top, as well as the bail connecting the cross to the chain, show some wear. The cross measures just over 2 ¼ inches long, including the top ring, by 1 3/8 inches across. The entire necklace, with the chain doubled, measures 15 1/5 inches long. The back of the cross is marked sterling. Weight: 22.3 grams; the cross alone, about 12.6 grams.
