SOLD A Worcester mug with flared sides decorated in transfer printed underglaze blue of sprigs of natural flowers. Although it is unmarked the transfer on one side is identical to the one shown on the side of a Worcester marked jug shown in plate 282 of Godden’s Caughley and Worcester Porcelains 1775-1800. The transfers are well printed. 3 ¾ inches (9.5 cm) tall and a little more in diameter across the handle.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor firing flaws...

An elaborately painted and gilt cabinet cup and saucer depicting St. Stephan cathedral in Vienna. The painting is delicate and the tiny figures are from the 19th century. The gilding is both flat and raised. The saucer is 5 ¼ inch diameter (13.5cm). The cup is 2 3/8 inches tall (6.5 cm).

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs...

A pair of large Chinese made and decorated porcelain serving plates for the Western market circa 1790. Good flowers painted in a complex design covering most of the surface. The square edge appears to be gilded with something more like bronzing powder than fire gilding. 11 1/8 inches (28.5 cm) diameter.

Condition: one with minor rim chips, minor stacking wear and some black firing spots. The other with a fairly significant rim chip and associated hairline.

Hand painted in dark underglaze blue with a serrated rim this large bowl is soft paste porcelain. The decoration of a Chinese arrangement of flowers and twining plants is typical of Tournai. Height 4.5 inches (11 cm) and 11 inches (28 cm) diameter. Late 18th century.

Condition: no chips, cracks or repairs. Some scratches to the interior of the bowl and small flaw in the body of the bowl.

This style of decoration was popular at the time and still looks excellent today.

A late 19th or early 20th century sterling silver sauce ladle with a round bowl, marked on the back of the handle, “STERLING, J.E. CALDWELL & (the rest of the punch missing) PATENT.” The front of the handle decorated with a long tailed bird (Jay?) in foliage. On the back is more foliage, the marks, and the engraved initial “F.” Approx. 7 inches long. Approx. 60 grams. Condition: Some wear. Decoration still crisp. J.E. Caldwell were a major Philadelphia maker and retailer.

A very well designed and executed eight point Star of Bethlehem pieced cotton quilt with excellent quilting. The pieces around the edges are white with very small pale blue printed sprigs. The pieces for the star are all solid colors. The backing is printed green cotton in a small pattern. Quilted with feather wreaths in the corners and partial ones between the points of the stars. A Staffordshire punch bowl decorated with both freehand painting and the transfer of the Chinese ladies and part of the fence in the center of the bowl. The border and the four sprays that decorate the outside of the bowl are all hand painted, as is the pink lustre mountain behind the ladies. A Staffordshire plate stenciled, cut sponge decorated and hand painted with the three rabbits, the frog, the clouds and grasses stenciled in brown in the center of the plate within a blue line, surrounded by hand painted red flowers, green leaves and blue cut sponge flowers contained within a red line on the rim. The rabbits in the yellow painted grass are fairly natural. The green painted frog less so. 9 3/8 inches (24 cm) diameter.

A transfer printed, hand colored and gilt large mug with Japanese inspired patterns on two sides, an elaborate decoration on the inside rim and a brown edge at the top. Blue printed mark on the bottom. The body is hand thrown, but the handle is molded. Circa 1820. 4 5/8 (12 cm) tall 5 1/8 (13 cm) diameter body, with handle 7 inches (18 cm) diameter.
