A pair of globular small electric bedside lamps decorated with roses hand painted by Joseph Nekola Junior and sold by Plitchta, London. Joseph, the son of Karel Nekola an original decorator at Weymss, was taught by his father to paint the well know roses. After the original factory at Weymss closed the Bovey Pottery in Devon continued to make, “Weymss Ware” with Joseph the decorator and trainer of apprentices. Plitchta was a wholesaler and exporter.

An oval English porcelain sugar bowl with the lid and body decorated with blue and magenta bell flowers growing out of gilt plants. The flowers circle both the lid and the body, which has molded ring handles (not working) at the end of the long sides. The knop on the lid is elaborately gilt. Unmarked, but certainly English and from the first quarter of the 19th century. 6 inches tall by 6 inches long by 5 inches wide.

4 Clingnancourt hard paste porcelain dinner plates with shaped edge, an elaborate gilt rim, a continuous band of hand painted roses and leaves and in the well of the plate rose sprigs. All with the Clignancourt stencil mark in red on the underside. 9 ¾ inches (25 cm) diameter.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor wear

A porcelain plate decorated with floral sprigs and bouquets with a shaped rim decorated with gilt dentil edge marked on the underside with a “B” in underglaze blue. 9 inch (23 cm) diameter. This short lived porcelain factory, roughly 1776-1781, had the Duc d’Orleans (cousin of the King Louis XVI) as its patron.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some wear to the gilding and a little stacking wear.

A blue and white parian pitcher with raised oak leaves and acorns and a “branch” handle and spout. The oak portions in white against a textured blue painted ground. Marked on the underside with the U.S. Pottery Company ribbon mark with “No. 16.” and the number 12. This mark used in the 1850’s. 8 5/8 inches tall and 6 ¾ inches across handle and spout.

Condition: no chips or repairs, but a crack in the base of the handle.

Four hand painted blue and white Dutch delft tiles joined with grout on a soft board in the manner in which they would have appeared on a wall. Roughly 10 ¼ x 10 ½ inches (26 x 27 cm). Minor damage at the edges.

A green glazed hand thrown pottery vase signed on the bottom, “W N/OWEN” (Walter Nelson Owen 1895- 1981) with the original retail paper label reading, “Hand Made For/PETER MURPHEY/HWY. 191 . P. O. Box 653/HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.” Peter Murphey ran a small ad in The Transylvania Times, of Brevard N.C. June 3, 1965 advertising a continuous Craftsmans Fair at his address. A molded Chinese porcelain bowl decorated with a dark powder blue ground, extensive gilding and on each side within the molded recessed panels an elaborate bouquet of flowers. The inspiration for the flowers is Meissen or some other German porcelain manufacturer, but the gilding, the dark blue ground and the porcelain make it definitely Chinese from before 1800. The underside marked with an accession number. It is removable. 2 ¼ inches (5.7cm) tall and 4 ¼ inches (10.8 cm) diameter.

An oversized plate (10 ½ inches (26.7 cm) diameter) with a hand painted bouquet of petunias in the center, surrounded by a thick gilt band and the elaborately molded lip with the molding picked out in gold. The printed blue KPM mark on the bottom was used during the years 1847 to 1849. There is also an incised Roman numeral four and possibly the number 14. It was probably used as a serving plate for pastry or cake.

An Oude Loosdrecht porcelain soup plate with an off-center bouquet in the bowl, scattered flowers and a molded lip picked out in blue. The gilt rim is slightly shaped. Marked on the bottom in underglaze blue with the initials M.O.L. and incised with numbers, letters and a star. 9 ½ inches (24 cm) diameter.

Condition: A fairly substantial chip to the rim on one side and a small under the rim chip on the other. Stack wear, especially around the border between the lip and the bowl. The gilding...

A large deep dish with hand painted blue lines and blue hand applied stencil flowers, roses in the center and flowers (possibly peony) and foliage around the rim. Early Doccia (circa 1750) had stenciled blue flowers on both maiolica and porcelain. I suspect that those pieces or similarly decorated mid-18th century ceramics were the inspiration for this piece. Without any manufacturers marks it is difficult to know who made this dish, but Doccia became Ginori and Cantagali, also close to Florence...

A cup and deep saucer in the bamboo pattern with an early printed Spode mark on the cup. The transfer design was applied over glaze by the “pluck and dust” method of transferring color followed by hand painting of the gilding. The color is referred to in the Spode literature as, “chestnut brown,” though this one has a reddish tint. Saucer 5 ½ inches diameter, cup 2 inches tall.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very minor gilding wear.

A pair of hand painted English porcelain dessert serving dishes, probably Spode, lozenge shaped with lobes and decorated with floral sprays and sprigs in bright colors with gilt scalloped border and gilt floral design in the apexes. No marks on the base, but this form with the elegant gilding in the apexes is ascribed to Spode and from early in the 19th century. Length 10 ¼, width 7 ¼ and height 2 inches.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Almost no wear.

A pen and ink with grey wash drawing on laid paper of mostly sail boats in what appears to be an estuary with a substantial building in the distance and an expansive sky framed in an older, probably early 20th century, mat and worn gilt frame. On the back of the drawing in pencil are various writings including, “Van de Velde” in the upper left corner.
