Self portrait of Adriaen van der Werff (1659 - 1722), from the series Raccolta di 324 Ritratti di Artisti Excellenti / Collection of 324 portraits of excellent artists, published 1790 – 1796. Coloured copper engraving based on Van der Werff’s self portrait. Adriaen van der Werff was a renowned Dutch painter. In the original oil painting from 1699 (now in the Rijksmuseum) the artist is holding one of his own paintings depicting his wife Margaretha and daughter Maria. A hundred years later however, the engraver who probably was Carlo Lasinio changed the small family portrait into something slightly different. Mounted on brown paper. Measures including the title at the base "10 ¾ / 27.7 cm x "7/ 18 cm. Condition: fine.
