Russian wooden egg, lacquered in black and painted. One side with an orthodox cross and the other probably depicting St Basil’s cathedral in the Kremlin in the late 19th century. It might also show the then newly erected cathedral of the Assumption in Omsk. Height "4 / 10.5 cm. Condition: the painted decoration is flaking, as is the black lacquer (cf. pics).

A pair of sake cups / bowls, thinly potted Japanese porcelain in white and gold with decoration of Ho-o birds and chrysanthemum, both of which symbolize happiness and prosperity. Unsigned, Meiji. An identical pair was in the collection of businessman Gustaf Wallenberg who also served as Sweden’s envoyé /ambassador to Tokyo and Beijing in 1907 - 1918.These sake bowls seem to have been gifts from the Japanese emperor to foreign dignitaries. A “Salopian” pearlware coffee service: nine cups and saucers, coffee pot, cream jug and slop bowl. Transfer printed decoration and underglaze painting in yellow, light red, blue and green of flower borders and a romantic view of a farm house with cows, meadows and wanderers. The cups of generous bute shape with "London” handles, and inside each cup a very small cottage is to be admired. There is a blueish tone to the white glaze...

A pair of plates by Samson of Paris. Decoration in Famille rose colours of sprigs of flowers within a gilt Rococo border, imitating mid-18th Chinese export porcelain of the Qianlong period. Unmarked. Diameter "9½/ 23,8 cm. Condition: fine.

Opaline or overlay peach-coloured and white satin glass perfume bottle, France around 1890. Floral decoration in enamels and raised gilt with applied clear glass swirls. Bottle and stopper marked 35. Height "8 1/3 / 21 cm. Condition: fine.

Elegantly decorated vase with a geometric design of 24 facets. Meiji period, late 19th century. Sparsely painted with airy flower sprigs, leaving large parts of the cream-coloured crackle-glazed surface undecorated. The mouth rim with the mon (emblem) of the Itagaki (?) family. Impressed three character mark to the base and painted signature in red. Height "6¼ / 16 cm. Condition: fine.

Six footed little cups, tasses à glace / sorbet or ice cream cups in the model used by Sèvres from c 1750 up till around 1800. Because of their sparse decoration the cups go well with more richly decorated porcelain. Slight variation in the gilt and molding of the handles, and in height: four of the cups "2 ½ / 6.3 cm and two 6.5 cm. All probably from around 1780. Marks: LL interlaced - four in over-glaze blue, one in red under crown and with LF and one in gold with HP...

Sèvres coffee can and saucer with flower decoration and gilt dented /”wolf tooth” rims, c 1780. The can with the interlaced Ls and date mark, possibly BB for 1779). Saucer of the same age, unmarked. The measures of these so-called gobelets litrons were regulated by the French government in the 1750s. An oval and domed porcelain plaque with enamelled flowers in a gilt and Bleu Céleste framework. The ”heavenly blue” colour was a speciality for Sevres in the 18th century and revived in the 19th during the reign of Napoléon III. The gilt flower wreath is tooled, to show the texture of the little flower petals, and the large flower motif is excellently painted. The plaque was made in the late 19th century and probably intended for an ormolu wall sconce...

Chinese tea bowl with very thinly engraved sgraffito decoration of a lady in her garden. Illegible seal mark in red. The hairstyle of the lady points to the Republic period, around 1930. Height: 2 1/4" / 6 cm. Condition: minor chip to the inside of the foot rim.

Two green glazed Shekwan / Shiwan jars, probably late 19th century. Both with molded decoration of flower sprigs and a ruyi border. Jars like these were placed on either side of a grave as offerings, one containing rice and the other water. Height "3 ½ / 9 cm, diameter "4 and 4 ½ / 10 and 11 cm respectively. Condition: fine. Demitasse black and white coffee can and saucer by Bodley & Co in Staffordshire, c 1870. The pattern, numbered 3438, is of various whimsical silhouetted scenes – a charging officer and fusiliers, firefighting, dueling with walking sticks, an arguing couple, a fat guardsman etc. Impressed mark Bodley. The deep well of the saucer makes the ensemble into a “trembleuse” – a design that made it easier to move the cup from one place in the room to another...

A faïence vase by Cantagalli with silverluster and blue decoration in the Hispano-Moresque or Ottoman style, c 1880-90. Ulysse Cantagalli, Florence, drew his inspiration from Arts and Crafts designers like William de Morgan, from Italian Renaissance and Islamic ceramics. Marked with the singing cockerel of the Cantagalli factory. Height "4 ¾ / 13 cm. Condition: mouth rim with two minimal glaze flakes, and a glaze burst near the foot rim (cf. pics).

Green flambé glazed miniature stoneware vase or perfume bottle, Art Nouveau design with engraved silver overlay, c 1900. Unmarked, probably German. Height "3½/ 9 cm. Condition: the end of one sprig replaced with silver colour, as shown on photo.

Two rattan handled and lidded water jugs in late Jugendstil, two of a kind. One designed by Richard Riemerschmied for the company of F & R Fischer c 1915, the other and smaller by Webster & Son, New York c 1920. The German jug hammered (pressed) and nickeled brass, the American jug silvered copper. Riemerschmid was co-founder of the Deutscher Werkbund, the ideas of which were close to the Wiener Werkstätte...

San Antonio de Padua, a silver filigree reliquary pendant, 17th or early 18th century, Portuguese or Spanish work. To one side a plaque showing Saint Anthony and the Christ Child surrounded by the letters SADP, to the other Christ’s head and SALV MUND SALV NOS. Pearlware cup and saucer decorated with a silver resist (platinum) border of vines within thin red lines. As a cheaper alternative to luxury silver services and to avoid tarnishing, platinum on porcelain was used in the early 19th century. Silver resist or silver lustre wares were produced mainly in Staffordshire, before silver-plated metals took over the market. This cup and saucer was made around 1820 and is unmarked. Teacups – six plus one - and saucers from Staffordshire with moulded borders, made of porcelain around 1825 and possibly by H & R Daniels. The pattern is numbered 766 and consists of little blue flowers or leaves growing from meandering sprouts in green, with minimal red shoots from them. Measures: height of cups "2/ 5.7 cm, diameter "4/ 10.5 cm and of saucers"6/ 15 cm. The seventh cup with a slightly different handle and no border moulding. Condition of all pieces: fine.
