A rare Ming wooden statue of the Daoist God of War, seated with one foot on a turtle, for immortality,and one on a snake, for supernatural power. The back has a little cut out area for relics and a handle for holding it for display. Size: H.32cm. W. 15cm. Condition: Most of the paint still remains, some flaking. There is a little piece missing from the right side of the ornament on his shoulder

A rare and beautiful original Vung Tau vase with five painted panels of flowers. Condition: One tiny chip on the rim. See photo. Shiny clear glaze gone and some minor staining from under salt water for many centuries. Size:H.11.5cm. W.4.6cm.

A very rare Chinese veneer huanghuali cabinet with the original marble inserts. The back of the cabinet still has the original fiber coating that was used during the Ming and early Ching Dynasties. This cabinet was most likely made during the transitional period from Ming to Ching. Age: Early 18th Century Size: H.189cm W. 126cm D. 63cm Condition: All original. The drawers are probably a replacement. Normal wear.

This is one of the earliest and rarest original types of vases made in Vietnam. It has a rich chocolate brown glaze with beautiful drippings going down to the base. This style of jar has been copied in later times in China and Southeast Asia. Size: H. 64.8cm W. 40cm. Condition: Perfect. No repairs.

A very rare portrait of the highest ranking official in the Emperor's court. This is based on the rank badge of the crane and the red hat. The painting is very intricate with a lot of gold work. The sleeves are painted with the heads of the Imperial Dragon and in the center there is a painting of the elusive flying pearl. The tips of the armrests and carved with the Linzhi mushroom...

A beautiful rare etched paitong basin depicting court ladies playing chess in the center. Around the inside of the basin there are scenes of scholars, artists, falconer etc. Around the inside edge is etched the "shou" characters representing good luck and fortune. Size: Diameter: 42.5cm. Condition: No repairs. A small casting crack on the inside that does not go all the way through.

A Japanese sword "menuki" of 3 sparrows that was converted into an obidome during the Taisho period. The bronze color of the metal gives a naturalistic brown coloration to the birds--their beaks, eyes and feet are highlighted in gold. The fitted back is in 9 karat gold. Age: Menuki 18th century.

A well formed silver Buddha wrapped around an earthen core in the earth touching gesture. Size: H. 12.6cm. Width at the base. 6cm. Condition: the finial is missing. No repairs.

A rare Chinese large jar.These jars were originally used for storage of food for trading ships. They were eventually traded to the natives in Southeast Asia, mainly Borneo, and were highly prized. The center of the vase has a relief of two dragon with white claws. Size: H. 70 cm. W.46 cm. Condition: Very good with no repairs.

A nicely carved jade pendant in the shape of a bamboo surrounded by leaves in two colors. Bamboo is a Chinese symbol for longevity because of its durability, strength, flexibility and resilience. It survives in the harshest conditions. Size: H. 6 cm. W. 4.2 cm. Condition: No repairs.

A rare lacquered elmwood 18th century classical folding stool. The rattan seat has been professionally restored and all the hardware and wood is original. Size: H. 36cm. W. 35cm x 45cm. Age: Early Qing Dynasty.

A very large museum quality blue cobalt Jar. It is very, very rare to find this type of vase in cobalt blue, especially in this size and condition. The center of the vase has a relief of a dragon chasing the elusive flaming pearl. Size: H. 92.8cm. W. 46cm. Condition: Very good with no repairs or missing parts. One side has some calcification from being buried for a long time. It show up more in the photo than it actually is.

A very rare pair of ironwood chairs also know as Tieli mu. Ironwood has been used with huanghuali items since the Ming Dynasty. In all the years that I have been collecting Chinese furniture, this is the only pair of ironwood chairs I have come across. Ironwood is usually been confused with jichimu. I find it just as desirable. Size: H. 112cm. W. 60cm. Depth. 45cm Age: Mid Qing.Condition: No repairs.

A pale celadon (off-white) Chinese jade of a cat reclining on a single, slightly curved leaf. The back of the leaf is carved with the leaf's venation. It is a delicate piece that has a hole carved at the top of the leaf enabling it to be used as a pendant. Size: L.5cm, W.3cm.

Chinese nephrite jade mythical animal of a light celadon green with inclusions natural to the stone. The form is plump from its body to its limbs. The view from the bottom shows rounded legs with nicely carved claws on each paw. Size: L.5.5cm (2 inches) W. 3cm (1.18 inches)

Rare pair of Blackwood side chairs. These were usually reserved for the men. This is classical Northern Chinese design. Very simple but elegant, classical Ming design. My favorite type of Chinese furniture. Size: H.104cm W.52cm. Age: 18th century Condition: Old repair on one leg. See last photo.

A very rare round tea stand made of huanghuali with an insert burl wood top by a round stretcher and the splay legs ended in "Lin Zi" head feet. Age: Early 19th century.

Japanese “Gosho Ningyo” doll of a plump male child in a kneeling position holding a colorfully painted rooster in his right arm. The boy is wearing a fabric bib with painted designs that has 2 ties in the back. He wears a black crinkled eboshi hat that’s secured by a thin rope that is tied in a bow under the chin. The eyes, eyebrows, and hair accents are painted in black while the pursed lips are accented in red...

A large beautiful and rare pair of colorfully glazed peacocks which were Vietnamese temple birds. The glaze is still vibrant and the sculpturing is very finely executed. Age: Mid 19th century. A seated bronze figure of Buddha in the earth-touching gesture. The Buddha sits on a platform with openwork scroll patterns. The face is round with facial features done in an free and unusual manner that give a tranquil, meditative expression.

Period: Burma 17th/18th Century

Size: Height = 11.8 cm, Diameter of base: 6.8 cm

Condition: Good. There is a tubular opening at the back of the platform perhaps for a canopy.

A rare mid 19th century large turquoise bead made into a necklace surrounded by an assortment of old beads. The large turquoise center bead is set in a silver/copper base. Highly revered in Tibet, a Turquoise stone was carried throughout one’s entire life. It was exchanged as currency & the finest stones were considered more valuable than gold.It also supposed to have healing powers. Size: 47cm end to end

A very rare large gilded Royal Thayo receptacle created in Mandalay for Buddhist votive use. Thayo is made by mixing lacquer with sifted paddy husks to which pulverized bone is added for strength, resulting in a sort of plastic like material easily molded or stamped in a relief design. Size: H. 104 cm. 40.5 inches W. 44 cm. 17 inches. Condition: No repairs.

A set of four vary rare blackwood Hungmu lady's side chairs. The chairs match as a pair except for the back panels. Two have a square and two have a circle. This most likely had some meaning for the owner. Age: Mid Qing. Size: H:94cm. W:48cm. Condition: No repairs. Some looseness from age. can be fixed very easily.

A beautiful rare blackwood cabinet with symbolic carvings of a bat for long life and prosperity and happiness and the pair of fish for abundance and wealth and harmony. The cabinet comes with the original stand that is missing the two drawers. It is very rare to find the cabinet with the original stand. The items inside the cabinet do not come with the cabinet. A “Gosho Ningyo” doll of a plump kneeling male child carrying a “hyotan” gourd. The large gourd symbolizes health, vitality, prosperity and immortality. The kneeling boy is wearing a bib with painted accents in white, green, navy blue, brown and gold pigments. There are two ties in the back for the bib. The hyotan (gourd) is also painted in greens, navy-blues, gold and grey of 3-leafed motifs that appear to be paulownia flowers...

The beautiful bird duck Hintha remains a beloved symbol of the Mon people.The hintha bird is the symbol of Burma. Nyonya wares are over-glaze polychrome enamelled porcelains made in Jingdezhen in the Kiangsi province of China for the Straits Chinese, or Babas, whose female counterparts are called Nyonyas, hence the term Nyonya ware. Nonya wares were mainly reserved for festive occasions and special functions. Size: W. 18.5 x 11.6cm. H. 5.8cm. Condition: No chips or repairs.

An ornate silver betel box with open-work patterns of curling tendrils. The body and lid each have five panels with high relief work depicting 10 different scenes of ancient Burma. The top of the domed lid has a lotus blossom. The bottom is hammered with the date and occasion for the piece.

An unusual bone handle dagger decorated with a turquoise stone and silver a copper fittings. The sheath is made of silver with a woven silver chain attached to the knife. There is piece of "stingray skin" wrapped around the middle. There is one turquoise stone decorating the sheath with two red (resin) stones that originally were red coral.The blade is made of steel.
