A Kutani Kaburagi lidded bowl painted with symbols of prosperity and longevity in multi-colored enamels and gold. The Golden Hammer (uchide-no-kozuchi) that serves as the handle for the lid, is the symbol of Daitoku, one of the 7 lucky gods. Legend has it, if you shake the hammer, it brings wealth. Around the outer bowl, there are storks (symbols of longevity) nestled inside stylized pine needle formations...

A charming brushpot inlaid with mother-of-pearl, ivory and hardstones. The inlay work is of branch with flowering plum blossoms. The back has a poem of archaic Chinese characters inlaid in silver. The wood is a dark hardwood (unidentified) of a slightly reddish tint.

Period: 18th Century

Size: Height = 12.5 cm (4-7/8 inches, Width = 9 cm.(3-1/2 inches)

Condition: Good condition. Slight age crack-which is part of the beauty-at the bottom part (under the plum blossoms)...

A pottery whistle in the form of an unusual face with its lips puckered as if whistling. The top of the whistle has green and brown glazes (sansai glaze) - the bottom is unglazed. The glaze has a very fine crackle. Under magnification, tiny pits can be seen on the fine crackle, which is consistent with the appearance of glazes for pieces of this period.

Period: Tang (618 - 907 AD)

Size: Height = 3.9 cm

Condition: Good condition. No breaks...

A late 19th - early 20th century "Yun" lacquered betel box with incised design of two horses and riders, elephant and dancers. The box is divided into three pieces. A jade of a chimera (mythical animal. The light grey-green nephrite jade has areas and spots of beige and dark brown natural that are to the stone. An unusual stone weight with a young boy riding a foo dog. The corners each have little foo dogs playing with their ball. The base has a key fret design. A small Burmese Buddha made of silver. Its form is simple, unadorned and its hand is in the earth-touching gesture. The face has a wide nose with connected eyebrows and has a quiet presence.

Period: Burmese, 16th Century

Size: Height = 5 cm., Width at base = 3.5 cm.

Condition: Normal wear due to its age. Has a nice patina.

A very unusual huanghuali scholar's container made of one solid piece of wood. There is no plug at the base. These types of designs are very desirable for collectors of huanghuali pieces. A bronze official's seal with the Chinese characters meaning "natural" and "pure." The top of the seal has a seated rabbit with its long ears folded behind its head.
